140 finals
maybe Garcia vs LaMar or Jordan ?
any ideas ?

The semis in 140 could be interesting. Other weights to watch should be 125, 145, and 215. There are a lot of quality wrestlers in these weights and almost any one of them could come out on top. The other brackets will have their share of match-ups as well. It should be a good weekend in Beloit.

Garcia is at 140 and Finley is at 145.

I've been shocked by the lack of posting on this topic. The last several years the Beloit Tourney talk has been a hot topic on this forum. I bet it had 50-70 posts by this time the last couple of years. Are we really going to just do our talking on the mat (insert your own forum cliché here if you don't like this one)??

The problem with Beloit is the fact that BC, Turner, STA and the powerful Norton or Jeff Peterson will not be in attendance. So why should anyone get excited. Just some old men wearing bibs in the stands talking about back when Beloit was a powerhouse.

I bet that Beloit has the most mullets per capita than any other tournament in Kansas. That's worth talking about.

I wish I could get my team into the invite. It would really open theirs eyes up to the comptetition that is out there. Wrestling in the Beloit Inivitational is a great experience. As for the mullets in the crowd, I guess I never noticed due to the fact that there was just too much head smashing happening on the mat.

I think the reason Norton does not come to Beloit is because they are already in at least two tournaments together. It's understandable that they would want to go somewhere else instead of wrestling the same people all the time. As for all the old men, well, I am proud to be one because at least we have good old powerhouse days to talk about. Here's another thought, who is Jeff Peterson and why is anyone talking about him?

Well, besides stating the obvious why should anyone get excited. Well maybe I will state the obvious. LOOK AT THE FIRST POST and at the very bottom 6 State Champs, 7 State Runner Ups, 16 State Placers that are at the tournament. I don’t know why I am even arguing?
Posted By: Aaron Sweazy Re: Beloit Breakdown - 01/19/05 08:43 PM
It's a one day tournament also isn't it? Otherwise there are people really going overboard on participation points.
Posted By: fatoldman Re: Beloit Breakdown - 01/19/05 08:53 PM
It is a two day tournament with about 18-20 teams participating, although I'm not sure who all is going to be there. True, there are not a lot of returning state placers, but there are 55 ranked wrestlers, so it shouldn't be a bad tournament.

Just like any tournament, Beloit is subject to the ups and downs of the teams involved. Traditionally this tournament is extremely tough. Manhattan, Hoxie, Colby, and many other powerhouses are there. Besides, this was the site of the epic Skinny Benny vs Fat Pat battle royale.

That was worth the price of admission right there.

"BC, Turner, STA and the powerful Norton"

Ok Norton I could understand, maybe Turner. But honestly are you saying that if neither one of these teams are in attendance then it will be boring?
Posted By: Coach Brown Re: Beloit Breakdown - 01/20/05 04:27 AM
Beloit has been a tough tourney for awhile now and continues to be one, two days and so many good wrestlers and great matches.Reminds me of Garden City tourney when I was in high school (ah memories) I am personally excited to take my team to tough tournament and lay it on the table. The snow days and weight management have hurt us but I am going to see some great matches! I am confident that at the end of Saturday I will have some new perspectives and will be proud of my team.
Good luck to all!
