I was just wondering which team has the most intense practices. I'm not trying to steal everyone's practice "secrets" or anything just wondering. At our practices we run a lot and lift weights what about u guys?
we walk over burning hot coals...BARE-FOOTED.
I dont believe I've ever heard of any other team doing this, but correct me if im wrong. At the beginning of every practice we do the usual jog and other various exercises, then we do a whistle sprint for 3-5 minutes, and the killer is we do up-downs for what seems like an eternity sometimes, but usually lasts about 10 min. Then its technique for about hour and live for about 30-45 min.
and skelly...lately practices have sucked!
our practices have really intense drilling and then we will wrestle and add sprints on real hard days but the hardest part is probably the drilling.
We usually do the warm up jog. Followed by a 10 minute strecth. Then possibly more warm up activities. Next an hour or so of drills. Finally an hour to an hour and 15 minutes of wrestling.
we wrestle a lot. sometimes we do a grinder, which is one long continous match. this year we wrestled one 25 minute match.we also wrestle it like a freestyle match. we don't spend much time on the mat we are almost always on our feet.
We always start off with 5 minutes of stretchin, with jogging anytime we aren't doing anything. then we either do some agility exercises, lift weights or do a little activity we call fun and games. Thats about 10 minutes. Then we drill for 1 hour. After that it is 30 minutes of live wrestling followed by a 10 minute conditioning program. I dunno if ya'll have ever tried to bear crawl backwards but that stuff ain't very fun! After this we put in some old monk music and stretch down for 10 minutes.
Other days we "Red Flag." We stretch for 5 minutes, then jog for 20. While we jog, we all jump through boxs, and burn out on pullups and dips. Then we live wrestle for 90 minutes followed by 20 more minutes of joggin with boxes, ropes burnouts or whatever our coach feels like torturing us with.
Come on Amo, those practices aint that tough, granted, your fat assistant coach has trouble keeping up. And you forgot, "Heck no we only listen to techno."
Where are my Olathe East Boys. They drilled and wrestled live for a hour and a half. Then we did dumbell work with some handfighting drills for 20 minutes and then finished off with conditioning for 20 minutes. Conditioning is the old line drill non stop with shots, sprawls, high knees, foot fires, and of course everyone's favorite CHAMPIONSHIP MINUTES. Any of you old Olathe Kids Club members ought to remember those. They were your favorite.
Sorry coach, my fingers were too worn out to type.
