Posted By: Mike Furches Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/08/05 11:46 AM
The Tag Team for Tyler has been invited to exhibition a match at the tournament this weekend in Wichita at WHY and next weekend in Topeka. We need to line some people up for that, 3 to a team. If interested please let me know via phone, email or posting here. This will not be an official championship match due to graduation by many of the original members. Please talk it up and let's get some wrestlers to have this fun event. We will use folkstyle rules so that will make it somewhat easier.

Are they gonna be Saturday tournaments, and what time will they be?

Need times and dates please!

I'm going to get in shape and really wrestle in one of these eventually before years end!

These are Saturday tournaments and I assume the exhibition would be between the freestyle / greco sessions. Check the calendar for dates, I know the WHY is this weekend. I also know that some of the dates interfere with some graduations, but others could still take part.

Fairleigh is at practice tonight and he says he is in and he will contact some of the other guys. We could do this between FS and Greco or before the clinic, whichever you want. Come on down for the Tag Team--It is Hilarious!

I don't know if I can do it this weekend, because I've got stuff to do at the River Festival. I'm coaching a girls tug of war team, it's almost as intense as wrestling.

Working with females in tug of war? Sounds like he's trying to tag something for Tyler alright! LOL

i'm there no matter what. just let me know when and where.

Hey guys, we have been given the option to wrestle right off the bat, or during the break between Greco / Freestyle. What time slot works best for everyone. I also understand there are going to be some open wrestlers at the tournament and we could fit those guys or others in if need be. Also, would you want to do a regular folkstyle tag team or a tag team incorporating kind of real pro rules? That might actually be kind of fun. Let me know what you think so we can let everyone know.
Also to others out there who may be interested, if you want to participate in the tag team, 3 men per team 2 teams, let me know. I'll try to fit you in for it. Bring both red and blue, or light and dark singlets, that will help with keeping everything legit.

These girls I'm coaching are in their late 30's and early 40's, so I really have no intentions of tagging anything that involves them, lol. And let me check on the time the tug of war starts.
Posted By: Curtis Chenoweth Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/11/05 09:53 PM
The tug of war starts at 11:00 am and goes until somewhere around 3:00 in the afternoon. So if I'm going to be involved, it'll have to be before about 10:00.
Posted By: mike fairleigh Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/12/05 02:18 AM
Denis says it really doesn't matter as long as it doesn't interfere with the tournament matches. Just let us know so we know when to be there.
Posted By: Curtis Chenoweth Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/12/05 03:22 AM
I'll do it in the morning. If they decide to hold it then. That's what I would prefer. And Cole will be with me, he's my assistant tug of war coach, so I'll bring him.

Not exactly sure what the CCFC is but I am sure that if it has any relation to the tag team I am a memeber. I have work commitments this weekend or I'd love to do it I unfortunately cannot make any right now.

don't worry i'll be there kids. besides i need to wrestle with my team again before they're enemies at Newman. Later kids.

sorry to sound like more of an idiot but where and what is WHY.
Posted By: Mike Furches Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/12/05 04:19 PM
Wichita North West (is that right?) Off of I think Tyler, north of Kellogg.

Just spoke with Ms. Jenni and the tag team will take place prior to the clinic, so first thing in the morning, I would assume at 9:00. Be there and be there early, hopefully will have the teams ready to go. Do you prefer the RPW rules or the traditional folkstyle rules? Let me know, will decide there.
Posted By: Curtis Chenoweth Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/12/05 10:01 PM
I'd prefer to do traditional folkstyle rules. Cole won't be able to make it unless its early enough for him to make it to El Dorado by 9:30. And Cole doesn't follow me everywhere. He's just does what I tell him to do. lol.

Well, tag team has come and gone, plenty smoke but not much fire from the newcomers and some regulars. Denis was there, but no curtis or cole, or james. new guys and a really great match, no foolin around and Cornejo, Baldrige and Anderson showed that they could do just fine right out of the box! a good show, and overall a good afternoon. Thanks to the guys that were there-- tag team still works, no matter who is there.
Posted By: Bronco Wrestler Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/15/05 03:15 AM
What were the teams? Who won?

Can we get a match recap please?
Posted By: Curtis Chenoweth Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/15/05 05:34 AM
I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I was picking up Cole, and our tug of war girls called us to tell us we had to be there at 9:30. I'm really really sorry if I let anyone down. I'll be there no matter what next time.
Posted By: Mike Furches Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/15/05 12:01 PM
We actually had 2 tag team matches and the desire for a tournament is stronger than ever. As Mike said, one team consisted of Cornejo, Baldridge, and Tim Elliott, by the way, quite possibly the strongest of all of the tag teams. these guys were great and they all took it very seriously. Now listen to this, they went up against, Denis Farleigh, Jared Edison (The Big One) and Chris (for some reason my mind is blank on his last name.) I think the final score was 29-22 with this being the first match not going to overtime, won, by Cornejo, Baldridge and Elliott.

We had a little guys tag team match as well, with Furches, Altman and Rogers against, Stultz and I can't think of his two partners. Again, both teams were really stacked with heavier weights on one team, with lighter weights against heavier weights. I think that in this match, Altman, Furches and Rogers lost like 28-27 or something like that.

An interesting point, the comish reffed the exhibition matches and we did something different which I personally really liked. We did Real Pro Wrestling Rules, and we went 2, 3 minute periods for the big guys, and for the little guys 2, 2 minute periods. The action was great but with the addition of the push out rule we even had more working of the center of the mat.

At the present time, since the title is vacant I am considering delivering it to the team of Cornejo, Baldridge and Elliot.

Yes as the manager of the all mighty Central Kansas Tag Team, I will gladly accept this on there behalf...
Posted By: Mike Furches Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/15/05 08:21 PM
Chase, Swayz just left for the party at Chenoweth's I'm not sure if he has the trophy or not, and I may end up going out myself, if he has it I may get it and let you hold on to it until the next tournament.

The wrestling was great, quite possibly the most intense of any of the tournaments so far and Imust say that the Ck team was outstanding in their use of the mat and scoring technique.
Posted By: mike fairleigh Re: Tag Team for Tyler Help - 05/17/05 08:05 PM
the new rules really helped legitimize the event, serious wrestling with no fooling around to speak of. As I think about it, That should come as no surprise as Cornejo, Baldridge, and Elliot probably have lost like maybe .354 matches each in the last three years (only slight exaggeration) and seem to take anything that happens on a mat as a very serious matter! Just Kidding about that, but they are very, very focused and were extremely entertaining to watch. If that team should do a repeat it will be two things: Very fun to watch, and very serious business.
