Who are you picking?
STA
Goddard
Hutch
Manhattan
Maize
Manhatttan. My team wrestled them in the Ottawa inv. and they creamed everyone there by at least 30 points each. they have a very good and stacked team. i don't think that anyone can hang with them very much.
As much as it pains me to say it, I would give the edge to St. Thomas Aquinas. I believe their big guns (Ceil Nisper, Med Jamie, some wee guys) will score them a lot of points, and they'll be able to get some points out of average wrestlers who get high seeds from their weaker regional. I'm also worried about Hutch, who placed well at Newton. (And us Hat Town folk have been bitten by Hutch before, so I'm a little paranoid.)
However, I do think a two-peat would be sweeeet.
I'm not ruling out Manhattan who beat Turner in a tournament this season.
i whould have to say goddard by a hair because STA is good but goddard and STA are both even match teams
I heard Goodard has had some trouble with injuries. I don't know how healthy the kids will be going back into regionals.Does anyone know how Edgmond is doing? My pick is Manhattan.
i think it will come down to manhatten and STA...i probably have to pick STA, though i hope manhatten beats them
i think hutch and goddard may surprise people and be right there at the top with everyone. Its gonna be real close.
When i was reading the paper it said Edgmond will be back in time for regionals and Goddard should be healthy by regionals
I think it's too hard to determine. I think you've got 4, maybe even 5 schools who will be duking it out at the state tourney. Obviously, STA, Hutch, Manhatten, and Goddard are the favorites. I think as of now STA has to be the favorite. They actually wrestled Hutch and Goddard at Blue Valley Northwest this year and won handily
Team scores: 1. St. Thomas Aqunias 209.5; 2. Turner 176.5; 3. Blue Valley 153.5; 4. Goddard 146.5; 5. Maize 139.5; 6. Hutchinson 139;
As a further comparison:
103: 2nd Micha Ankenman, HUT
3rd Quintyn Bolay, GRD
4th Bo Noles STA
112 4th Phillip Henes, STA
5th Jacob Hulsey HUT
119 4th Skyler Scott, STA
6th Tommy Edgmon GRD (lost this match due to injury)
125 3rd RJ Nill, STA
4th Russell Freeman GRD
5th Tim Sayers, HUT
130 3rd Mark Millstead, STA
135 2nd Brad Traina, GRD
5th Scott Markey STA
140 1st Phil Craig, HUT
4th Andy Hurla, STA
145 1st Romero Cotton, HUT
5th B Bonewell GRD
152 3rd Joe Ibarra, STA
- Chris Simpson placed 4th - not sure from where
160 6th EJ Walter STA
171 1st Chadd Posch, GRD
- Doesn't have 5th and 6th
189 1st Neil Cisper STA
215 2nd Mike Hammer STA
275 None
Thought this was interesting.
Looks like you got too many points on your board up there. STA scores 209 and everyone else scores 150...thats strange...its usually about 150-175 that wins it. And apparently the HAt gets no love. Interesting......
This wasn't a prediction of the state tourney, as you may have missed, Turner was in this list. And I'm fully aware that Turner is 5A. This was the results of the BVNW tourney where Hutch and Goddard, along with STA competed. It may or may not be a good indication as to where they may fall in the State tournament. If anything, it adds to the debate.
Boach, they just don’t seem to understand the power of the sweater vest. That’s worth at least 20 style points. And 1 for appreciation.
yeah but goddard also went into the tourny with out Chase Mosses and that could of got them some more points to put them in 3rd or could of made it closer to 2nd place
yes, but what team that doesn't cheat will win state?
had to do it with all the talk about STA
haha, isnt there another thread if you want to continue that discussion
I'm going to switch my prediction. I'm saying Hutch. They just make me extremely nervous. (For good reason.)
Prant, Do me a favor! Just Say No to the Canadian Drugs. Hutch is going to be OK but they have way to many holes to fill. They have a good 103,119,125 an excellent 140 and 145. The 171 will fair well also. The 145 has been the surprise of the year but has a very tough regional with a lot of state experience. But 5 to 8 guys will be a long shot to win a State title. STA is the one to beat they are deep and will score a lot on the backside.
Red, you of all people should know that Hutch is always lurking. They wrestled like ma-ohns and won two state titles when there were better teams, and I will be eternally pee-pantsed whenever they're around.
Go Hat Town.

In '03, hutch won state with eight.
But consider the eight they won with? how many were in the finals... And how many back side points did they get. They had four state champs, tell me who is going to be the state champs from hucth this year? one maybe two.
manhattan did they not win it with no state champs last year?????? they had 8 places and no state champs its all on the backside my friends
Fris, you're too young and stupid to remember the travesty that was 2002. Ay dios mio. That day the The Streak was to be broken, only to have little Prant's heart crushed after a 9 foot dinosaur who had bananas for fingers and couldn't bend his knees defeated an expected 3x champ at the fatty weights. Down goes Frazier. Prant and Co. are destroyed.
But hey--we beat them in football.
Wow, I didn't realize that Hemmerling winning cost Manhattan the state title. That's terrible.
Fris, you are missing my point how many points were scored by the non-placers? you being one of them... you scored points for the title. It took all 12 guys to do it on the backside with two in the finals. It would be tough to win it with five to eight guys and not put them all in the finals. Ask Goddard how tough it is to win without a lot of backside points. I understand where Prant is coming from! The moons were aligned just right the year in question. One stinking point!!!!!
Yeah, MancerL. I believe they had an upset victory in the middle weights, but no one was really worried about it because Bananafingers McCantbendhisknees was kind of a no-name to us. (In fact, he had been teched by our 171 a year or two before.) And of course---he was wrestling 2x state champ and eventual nationals bronze medal winner Josh Carrol. No big deal. Title's locked up.
Until, like Red says, the crappy moons aligned to take a grumpy all over Hat Town's state title. Big ups to McCantbendhisknees. He wrestled like the ma-ohniest of ma-ohns. But still, it broke Prant's little heart.
Oh, and Josh Carrol beat us in the state title game in football that year. His stellar play on the D line rendered our offense virtually non-existent. So it's not like he's responsible for us losing TWO state titles or anything.
I'm not bitter.
(If any of you can offer counseling, I think I need it.)

Munoz also won the title at 130. One thing you're forgetting, though, is that Garcia was upset in the semifinals. If he would have won that match, and gone on to beat baldridge just as he did a week before, it wouldn't have even come to hemmerling's match.
STA looks solid top to bottom, saw them at the SMS Tourney.
I know the Manhattan line up very well.
There are a lot of good teams in 6A.
We all know that anything can happen at the State Tournament. I can't wait, it will be a great tournament.
Good luck to the Manhattan wrestlers the next 3 weeks.
Ned
Ned!!! It's Ped Nrice!!!
Hello to you, my friend. Hat Town misses you AND your fruit pants. We should form an Out Of Town Hat Town Fans With Funny Pants club.
Derby will be a team to watch for at state seeing how we are league champs with Hutch and Maize
Prant it is Ped.
Yes my wardrobe is as colorful as fourm posts, and I have added many new fruits and vegetables to my collection.
Hello to everyone in Hat Town.
How many of those hat town boys you think will bring home medals? 7 or more and they just might win another title!
STA I could see getting 7-9 but I don't think as high of placing then Man.
STA will probably take 11-12 to state, weak regional, we're in it too.

You have to be kidding? To finish in the top 8 for them would be great. I say they hit 6th at best this year. I agree....seeing as I was told by multiple people that Hutchinson and Maize tied for AVCTL champs honors.
Maize Hutch and Derby all tied Derby beat Hutch Hutch beat Maize and Maize beat Derby all really close
bigosteve i don't know if you are but if you are talkin about are bigger wrestlers 275 Ryan Roe ia ranked in the state i don't know what 215 Jacob McFarlind is #1 and 189 Germey Priewit in not sure on ranking ether because can't check
Im not saying Derby will win it but i think will hold a respectful placing
