Any guys gonna make a big showing at 215 this year in 6a?
I don't think so, everyone good graduated, but I'd say Ryan Roe from Derby has a great shot for the finals. He is the best non-senior that I wrestled all year.
if wichita west moves up to 6a and i think that it will i have a good chance at being in the 6a 215 finals if i don't drop to 189
at least 16 guys will make it to the big show isnt that a given?
And no one's even funny. It's going to be a pathetic year for you guys.
I guess I should put in a good word for Lee Larson from Manhattan. He got 3rd last year at 6a 189, a very difficult weight. If he steps into Chris Jennings former weight he should be good, he was a challenge for Jennings in practice last year. Also, the 1st and 2nd place guys at 6a 189 from last year - David Ehret from Washburn Rural and Jason Butler from Junction City - have graduated, and if everybody good at 6a 215 graduated then Lee has very good chances of winning a state championship. I'm not for sure if he will be 215 or 189 though.
Who is this Chris Jennings? Any kin to Jhris Cennings?
boach is back first of all and secondly Lee will be ok at either weight
Yeah, Lee's a badass lookin kid. I'm going with him.
I didn't think about Lee moving up, he should be able to dominate if that happens.
Orren Prohaska should definitely not be counted out. He's probably going to dominate the entire state at that weight.
I would also like to add that the Wichita West 215er isn't going to make the finals at either weight. I'm not sure of his name, but I know that he was pinned by someone that I pinned, because it says so on my bracket.
P.S. Prant has one bracket. It's from a tournament where he wrestled 7th and 8th graders, as a freshman in high school.
I got pinned twice once by adam knipp and once by ryan sponsel. I wrestled Knipp 5 days after he pinned me and only beat me 4-8. The only tournament that we both went to was salina south and i did not get pinned there willy cochran beat me and arron adcox but neither pinned me
Alright, well I beat one of them, and the guy who beat the other one. So technically I beat you twice as much. Technically, of course.
Rathan Netta, I think you're way off base in predicting a state championship for Lee Larson, one of two members of the Hat Town clan who can't really pull off the name switch. Why? Because he weighs about 293482316 pounds. Seriously. Kid's fat.
And Jhris is right. I expect Orren to win at 189, 215 AND 275. He's that good.
I don't know wichitawest215, you're already scouting who's going to be at 189 for next year, you can't be too confident...
And we're back... :p

Who is Jhris?
And by the way, Chris that is a schweet hamburger avatar. There was a guy last season that used that. Don't be surprised if he wants it back if he shows up again.
mmmmmmmmmm........
hamburgers and being fat
*drools*
Lord, what have I missed?? By the way, watch out for Shawnee Mission South's 215lber.....he is pure fury and death bundled up in a robust white kid.
Hey Ben, when you go back to the South room during Winter Break or something call me. I love those Raider kids...
Roger that my blubbary friend. The questions is: Do you still got it?
Hell if I know, I can barely jog right now.
But I hear it's like riding a bike or something like that.
And also, how's the rec club going? What's it like?
The club is doing well. We have at least 10-12 dudes in there on Tues and Thurs from 7-9.
We have some decent talent in the room, but I havent seen the fabled Jennings yet. I am calling him out right now, GET IN THE ROOM, or face the wrath of a 137lb asian w/ the bench press of 210lbs. Now honestly, do you want to mess with that?
We are planning on going to a 2-3 tournaments at least, one of which being the Central Mizzou and the Fort Hays Open. Aaron Bartels, will you be at either of thus?
Man, I ran three miles yesterday in my return from inactivity. It was sweet.
Wow!!! Goooooooooooooo Robinson.
Jhris and Prant....lets not forget about Hogan Loover, he is one of hat towns new rising stars
And soon all you manhattinites wil be introduced to Ateve Sndrus
bvnw 215 josh duvall (sp? sorry kid) impressed me last year in the few matches i saw him wrestle at the husky invitational and in my opinion one of the 3 hardest tourneys in the state and he also had to 2 state placers working with him all of last year, Todd Williams 215 4th in state and Garrett Jones 275 2nd in state, so he has been in wrestling with some studs all his high school career, watch for him to turn heads
ateven sndrus did pretty awesome at the Highland park tournament look out for him. And yes Orren Prohaska will definatley dominate especially with his flabs of steel
Is Andrus now a 215lber? saw him this year at nationals and he was a big old 260 guy-what did he place at HP and whom did he wrestle there,
the James Sparks kid from emporia at 215's is pretty **** good i heard it tore up Tyler Gonzales from shawnee heights in the dual they had
itsme--
I recognize this is your first post, and let me be the first to welcome you to the wonderful wrestling oasis that is our forum. You're more than welcome to join in any witty banter/correction of spelling mistakes. However, I have one request.
Please change your avatar. The hamburger should remain unused until our fallen forum friend, Jhris Cennings, makes his triumphant return. Jhris was a legend, sharing witty jokes and good humor with the entire wrestling community. Unfortunately for Jhris, he fell prey to Big Brother and was subsequently banned. He rests in a glorious graveyard with Bigkneepads#2 and Super_Duper_Mystery_Man, where he awaits his resurrection.
Please, my friend. It's Christmas. Let Jhris rest in peace.
who is this james sparks and what did he wrestle at last year
This James Sparks kid is my brother! He didn't wrestle high school last year cuz of grades, but look for him to be at the top of the 215 weight class. He's a lil bad ***.
Bump. Steven Andrus is mentioned in this topic and I think you've all heard his name over the summer. He's a sophomore at heavyweight this year and if things go like they did this summer for him, he'll walk away with a medal.
Mike - I think you are confusing Steve Andrus w/ Alex Thomas. Steve is now under the wing of Bob Gonzales at Manhattan. Alex lives in western KS and is homeschooled.
You are right Barry, my mistake. I should have known that for obvious reasons. Stevo under Coach Gonzales will have a great year. There are other 215 pounders that I like a lot, but Steve is something else.
calen born, olathe north...05 runner up at 189. and jesse hardy, lawrence freestate...05 placed 3rd at 189, should both be 215 this year.
u guys can ALL talk about this weight as much as u want...but the fact is, is that Jarrett Edison of Wichita Northwest WILL win this weight. The man was a good 15+ lbs under his weight last year wen he maed it to the finals. Look for him to make it TO the finals agian and INDEFINATLY win this weight
Our internet has been down and I just saw this...try 30# under weight and sick and lost in double over time and I will stop there. Edison has grown and shoudl definitely be a contender.
Ms Jenni
Calen Born? Where is he from? Do I remember wrestling a Calen Born from somewhere in the KC area? Is it possible that even possible, or am I too old?
Weird. Someone let me know.
i think we're all too old Prant.
in other news, i had the most delicious spicy chicken burrito last night
mike wickley from BVNW has a shot at placing
Calen Borne is from Olathe North.
Did Balen Corn wrestle 171 his freshman year? Anyone? Anyone?
i dont know what born wrestled as a freshman, wrestled 171 at a sophomore though. he was a state qualifier that year.

well just to let ryan roe graduated last year
I met Born and Edison this past year...they'll both be there.
Neither voice much here about themselves...so I'd like to.
Edison is a beast, who obviusly works hard throughout the year, and he's well coached.
Calen has only shown a portion of his potential and has already been dominant...I predict even more commitment this season.
Both are tough, but most importantly...matching their mental game is your biggest challenge.
Calen inconspicuously (and informally) leads his team, watching over his teammates and quietly helping to set the tone.
Edison was the most impressive young "man" I met this summer. He stepped up with character during an awkward situation. Even though he could've taken the typical "not my problem", he set his ego aside and went "out of his way" to make a younger wrestler/admirer feel "okay" again.
This type of character says volumes about their mental game and physical preparation. They CAN'T do less than "arrive at the top".
You want to know who'll be there? Above all other factors, the best this year must be prepared "mentally".
Oh, and one more thought...
Because they inspire those around them, they in turn will be inspired by their teammates...it's real synergy. How does that chemistry impact their level of performance (individually, or, as a team)?
marlatts, if you would have been paying attention, that post was from last year when Roe was a senior.
