Defending Class 4A State Champion Abilene
will be joining the already strong field at this
year's Bobcat Classic. Wrestling will begin
at High Noon on January 16. Please come
and enjoy!
2004 Bobcat Classic
Abilene
ACCHS (Effingham)
Basehor-Linwood
Blue Valley
Chapman
Columbus
Eudora
Fort Scott
Garden City
Glenwood, Iowa
Goodland
Junction City
Lawrence Free State
Olathe North
Paola
Rossville
Santa Fe Trail
Shawnee Heights
Shawnee Mission East
Spring Hill
St. Thomas Aquinas
Sumner Academy
Turner
One Added note: For those of you that do
not follow Iowa wrestling. Glenwood is having
a great year so far. Undefeated in duals,
winning one tournament (defeating #5 Iowa
ranked Winterset), and placing 2nd in a very
tough tournament in Des Moines.
I thought Bonner Springs was supposed to be coming also?
Bonner Springs will be attending the 24
team Bobcat Classic at Basehor-Linwood
High School on Jan. 16 and 17th. They were
accidentally left off the list.
Let the drooling begin:
160:Taplin, Kromer, Figge, Sonderegger, Wiscombe, Metcalf, Reedy, McClendon
171:Payne, Butler, Cisper, Steinmetz, Hammett, Malloy, Shoffner,PURSEL
If Baldwin returns?? that will add Derek Lang to 160 and Kyle Flory to 171.
Chris Pursel returning state champ from Effingham will be at 171 as well.
The 125 weight class should also prove to be a challange, with Luke Geske, Dexter Deeds, Aaron Ellison, Keaton Baker, Michael Mancuso, Dusty Briggs and those are just the guys who are ranked. So I think that this weight class is going to be pretty stacked.
i think wiscombe and metcalf are at 152.
WOW!!!!! 125,160, and 171 look to be very tuff. Who does everyone think is going to win them three weights.
I am at 152 I don't know about Metcalf or not.
It looks like at 160 - It is going to be Taplin,Kromer,Figge,Sonderegger,Reedy,MaClendon, Lang,Hammett and maybe Metcalf his school web site says he is at 152 but I have not seen any thing on them. And at 171 - It is Payne,Butler, Cisper,Steinmete,Malloy,Pursels, and Flory. It looks to me that 160 and 171 are going to be the two best weight classes at the Classic, 125 is going to be pretty good but not as good as those two weights. Now that we know where a lot of the guys are at for sure who do you think will win those two brackets.
Does anyone have the reults?
The tournament will not be wrestled until January 16, 2004!
One thing Joe didn't tell you, but I will, if your team isn't wrestling that day or if you are just a fan that likes wrestling come see how great of a job he does running the show. They work hard at running a top notch affair and treat people with genuine hospitality.
Fanatic, I couldn't agree with you more. I am putting in a request to have the same hospitality room as last year and the same announcer. Its nice to have an announcer that knows what the heck is going on. Can't wait til tournament time. There will certainly be some big match-ups. And I will add a little something to Fanatics statement. There is usually plenty of room in thier huge gym. Happy Wrestling, kirk
I would have to say that 119 looks to be pretty tough also with...
bahe, bell, devoe, bloodgood, dawson and, munyan. Just some names off the top of my head.
Obviously there will be a number of great weights again in Basehor including 171, but Jason Butler of Junction City will be @ 189. Looking forward to another great tournament!

Doth mine eyes deceive me? Has Malloy really wrestled 25 matches???
I think Metcalf is at 160. i know he wrestled 160 last weekend.
Looks like some great match-ups Joe! I know you left out some sleepers that will give the mentioned names a run. 160 lbs. looks to be very tough as well as 119 lbs. I'm sure the kids are all happy they get an extra pound for weigh-ins. Counting the hours till Friday! Happy Wrestling, Kirk

Hey Scott---Nice to see you on the computer while you're in class...Oh, wait a minute, that must be your "planning" period...
for the 90% and up group, add Tyler Gonzales of Shawnee Heights at 189. I don't know how many he has won, but i believe he has only lost 2 or three matches. Also, he won the Derby tournament this weekend
