any team or individual title predictions yet?
Going out on a limb here- Norton will win it, and it won't come down to heavyweight & Sprigg this year.
Yeah your right Hoxie has some good guys but i think Norton will just out wrestle them. Besides Norton is coming of a state win this year and wasnt more.

norton will most positively win it this year i think. they pretty much dominated hoxie and everyone at regionals.
what hoxie??? are u guys forgetting oakley and st. francis
I think with Oakley qualifying 9 as well, could make some interesting twists in the state title race, not sure about St. Francis' qualifying numbers but will have several finalists, Ross & Richards, and who knows who else, but the race could be interesting but it's too bad I'll be in Wichita this year

should make for a great state tournament
Alex
Effigham and Silver Lake will make a good showing for the Eastern part of the State.
Western Kansas is where it happens
Umm... hey, you may want to look out for Silver Lake, they are taking 11. I'm calling it now. Silver Lake wins the 2005 3-2-1a state tournament!
pups you must have got slamed and jiggled youre brain a bit hahhhahahaha norton and oakly will battle for the title there just to deep.
another extremely tough NW regional!
Norton got 9 through
Oakley 9
St. Francis 8
Oberlin 8
Hoxie 5
in my opinion its going to be another NW Kansas dominated state tournamnent, many finals you saw in the regionals, you will again see in the finals at state.
St. Francis was definately missing smull at 160, and also open at 119.
Oberlin also upset Norton at 125 as Mann failed to qualify....at 152 Burns from Cimmaron was also upset, by miller from Oberlin, but managed to place 3rd. i dont recall other upsets... but as usual more of the same; good kids having to stay home and watch from the bleachers...
predicting? team title? your crazy if you think you can at this point. Norton has to be somewhat a favorite, but do not count out Sainty or Oakley either, Oakley had a great tournament. Silver lake with numbers through a weaker regional will also have a shot.
the first 2 rounds are definately critical, then its all back door after that for the dough...
Pups are you joking me. Norton, Hoxie, St. Francis, Oakley, they will al battle and do what ever it takes to get the team and individual wins in the state tournament. but i am still with nortoin on this one.
Pups
Silver Lake may have qualified 11, but i'm sure any of the top 4 teams at the Wakeney would have qualified as many or more had they been at the Onega regional so you would so i wouldn't be so sure on level of compotion in the eastern regionals if a team qaulifies 11. Wait till state. They'll go through the bout numbers one at a time so you can see the the west will rise again as usual
Man, you all get rilled up over a little prediction...
I still stand by it.
Because they see it as a stupid prediction. Norton will win.
Norton or Oakley will get first for team
Levi Younkin will win state at 135
Tait Weatherbee will win state at 130
Sprigg at 275 will take state
Norton or Oakley will win it....I Agree
Youkin wins 135 and becomes a 3'xer....I also Agree
Tait Weatherbee wins 130.....No, After wrestling both Tait and Simon, I'd have to say Simon is the better one and will win it this year, and Tait will be a 3'xer of his own, a 3 time runner-up
Sprigg will win it again...who can challenge him?
im with orozco, hes gotten even better lately, he pinned kaup in the first or second period in finals. i think weatherbees gonna have to pull a win outa nowhere to win, im pullin for orozco. regionals was a blast at beloit!!!
Weatherbee beat Orozco and had complete control of the match at prairie senior. So i think you are both wrong
Weatherbee had complete control? I didn't see it. Orozco got in deep a couple times on some shots but just couldn't get the finish and Weatherbee won a few scrambles and the match, but a 6-5 decision is in now way "complete control". Orozco already has 2 runner-up medals and another state medal, with this being his senior year and last shot at winning a title I don't see him being denied, He has done what it takes to try to win the crown, as I said I've wrestled both of them, Orozco is better to me as he's pinned me twice and Weatherbee none, just my opinion though
Alex
Orozco didn't score those times, because Weatherbee countered him perfect and scored, also Weatherbee as well has 2 runner-up medals and with his loss last year in the last few seconds i dont see Orozco beating him. As for you wrestling both of them, each wrestler has his own style of wrestling which works on some and not on others, therefore, them wrestling you doesn't even matter due to the fact that you lay on the mat like a little girl and don't move. Also Weatherbee has already pinned and beat Orozco 6-5 so I beleive once again that you suck and have no idea what you are talking about
Josh
where did Weatherbee pin Orozco?
Hmmmm let's see....if someone sucks do they place 2nd at their Regionals? Just curious.
I think Norton and Oakley will be 1 and 2, but 3 should be interesting between Silver Lake, Saint Francis and ACCHS
Weatherbee's 6-5 decision over Orozco in the Prairie Sr. was a match controlled by Weatherbee? That's laughable. It was a hard fought match. I'm not going to make a prediction but Tait and everyone else better wrestle awfully well at State if they face Orozco. He's on fire - wrestling by far the best he ever has. Good luck to Tait and Simon!
Having wrestled in NW Kansas and now residing in NE Kansas I try to follow the 3,2,1A schools out here as much as I can. As I sat here looking at some stats and assessing the Silver Lake argument I decided to throw my $.02 in for thought.
I look at it as Silver Lake qualifying 8. 3 of their wrestlers placed 4th at Onaga. No offense to them (great job and good luck) but I don't see a 4 seed from an eastern regional making much of a splash. Of the remaining 8, 4 are underclassmen. I don't know how many of the young ones qualified last year, but it's quite a learning experience your first time to Hays for sure. Lamar and the older Mellies have a good shot at the finals and probably half of the other 6 will place. 5 medals is a good showing, but it's not going to match up to the 4 or 5 finalists Norton "could" land.
Anything can happen, that's why they wrestle the matches... but I'm saying top 5 finish, probably not top 3. Coach Lamar has done a great job in building a quality, competitive program though and I would kind of be tickled to see them bring home 3rd. (Provided my alma mater is in 2nd.)

i dont think you need to be so rude in your posts. just my opinion though.
Simon is a very solid wrestler and his only down fall may be once he hits the finals- he might not wrestle his match and be to careful not to lose. He has pinned all of his competition in the regionals and is looking good heading to state. Tait is good as well I just think Simon looks to be the best as of right now. In a week I may be wrong.
Go get em tigger
Norton for Sure. Oakley, well it depends just how good those big guys are. I am not convinced Oakleys big fellows are for real. If they are, then they will be right there with Norton, If not then they are a top 5 team
After watching teams througout the year, the regional tourny and looking at the state brackets I predict 1)NORTON 2)ST. FRANCIS 3)OAKLEY 4)HOXIE 5)SILVER LAKE.
pupsforever...your prediction wasnt even close the didnt even place in the top three. nice call
Hey, I'm not ashamed of my prediction. I was wrong... life goes on...
All I'm saying is it would be easy and obvious to "go out on a limb" and pick Norton to win. That's like predicting Conway Springs to win 3a football every year, it's the easy pick. I like picking underdog teams to win. If I'm wrong, so what? It's not like these forums are life or death...
