I heard from a Piper wrestler than theri coach, Hartshorn I believe has a tumor and is having it removed. Has anyone heard from him on the seriosness of this matter. I do not know if he gets on this forum but if this is true I think we all need to have him in our prayers.
Well if it's true it will be a waiting game. Usually it is about a week standard after the biop is done when they get back to you. So pray while waiting for good news.
His surgery is Thursday according to a friend of mine that wrestles at Piper.
I talked to coach Hartshorn on Wednesday, the doctors told him they didn't think it was cancerous but mentioned a 30% chance it was. Keep him in your thoughts, a ruff year for the Piper team!
Ol' AC Dog is correct about a 30 percent chance of it being cancerous. The tumor is in my saliva gland on the left side of my face. My surgery will be Thursday morning. I am still planning on being at Eudora for the regional. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks
Brock Hartshorn
Coach,
Atchison wrestling will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Brock,
Good luck with your surgery. Just want you to know we'll be thinking about you here in Concordia.
Coach
I talked to Brock the other night and he didn’t seem too concerned about the surgery. Besides, Brock is a tough old cookie, and I might add the second most penalized intramural football player in Emporia State history next to myself. Good luck on the surgery Brock hope to see you at regionals.
I did not they had rules for flag football? at least not any that I would care to follow.
All kidding aside thanks Coach Moore and Coach Neil.
Coach Hartshorn:
Excellent sense of humor during this anxious time in your life.
At Circle High School we have a teacher/football coach who is fighting the difficult fight with cancer and whose condition is deteriorating daily. Young teacher with (3) year old and (1 1/2) year old children.
God bless!
With friends like scott you have to have a good sense of humor. But seriously whatever this is I can handle it is the approach I am going to take. The email I have recieved today have been very uplifting, some from people I do not even know. I thank all of you for your support.
30% chance of being cancer....70% not being....this is one of the few times in life a coach wants the not instead of the is. Keep us informed.
Brock, my father and I are keeping you and your family in our thoughts. I hope that everything goes well and that you remain healthy.
Best wishes Coach Hartshorn!
We look forward to seeing you in Eudora at regionals!
We wish you the best!

Coach,
Although we have never met, I understand what you are going through. I underwent a parotidectomy last March, after diagnosis the week of the league tourney and surgery the week after State. The stress on our family during my son Joshs state run was difficult. Support from Wrestling parents that we have known since Kids Wrestling was a great help in keeping my sanity.
In my case the tumor was benign. The facial paralysis was frightening at first but has completely reversed and feeling has returned to about 95% of the affected area. From a personal experience stand point, my recovery time was about 4 weeks. The pain was much better by day 3 and I was able to eat normally by day 5 following the surgery. Follow the doctors orders and don't rush back. Although this is a trying time I am sure you know, as a wrestling coach, a little about mental toughness! Stay strong, lean on friends and family and know the prayers of the wrestling community are with you.
Good Luck and God Bless
Curt Hogan
