Since Deshazer has only lost to one kid his entire high school career I would have to definately put him at the top of any type of list.
I would think that Cole Garcia would have to be included in that list
I think Boaz Beard deserves having his name mentioned.
I think overall Tristen Deshazer then Neil Erismam, Scott Elliott, Jason Pyle, Jesse Strawn, Cole Garcia
What about Caleb Payne 275 Paola High School 5A
Trison Graham 119 Ark City 5A
BRETT BAHE SURE COULD BE FIGURED IN.
Nick Shumate
You cant leave Madden out of there because he is a three time state champion.
1 - Erisman
2 - Shumate
3 - Perez
4 - Deshazer
5 - Livengood
6 - Ely
7 - Strawn
8 - Caldwell
9 - Elliott
10 - Cotton, Bailes, Garcia, Madden, Bahe, Furches
The Hentzen Kid from Maize seems to dominate his class.
paulie hansen
Donnie reed
Donte Jones
If everyone is putting Cotton in there you also have to put Roe from Norton in as well
Trego,
Madden is a great wrestler, but he is not even the best at his weight. So I think that eliminates him from this "best pound for pound" discussion.
I have to agree with BigPin22. The "best pound for pound" wrestler HAS to be someone who is undefeated in his own weight class, and probably someone who has shown the ability to wrestle up and win.
For 145, I would have to say Aaron Hynick from Rose Hill would have be mentioned in there too.
And how about Jared Siemer from Rose Hill as well for 215. He defeated Atticus Disney earlier in the year.
Baker-Hoxie

Roe is the best wrestler I have ever seen on his feet, if he were to ever get in a situation where he needed to score on top or bottom, I would have my doubts, although he by far is one of the best in the state
what about Hase from silver lake. i think that he should be mentioned. he only has one loss on the whole season.
wrestler06--Roe can wrestle on the mat when he has to--he just doesn't have to very often. In his semi-final match at Newton he RODE Cotton to win in double over-time.
How can you say Hynick or Seimer? They are not even undefeated. Both really good wrestlers but maybe not in the same league as pound for pound best. Has Hase and Cox from Andale wrestled yet?
Roe is the real deal.
I'd have to say strawn and deshazer(sp?)

Are you kidding me? Garcia beat the tar out of him at Newton. Something like 9-2. Kicked his butt so bad that Hentzen had to resort to a cheap shot which ended up intensifying the butt-kicking he was already receiving. I guess he may dominate his classification, but he is certainly not the best pound-for-pound in the state.
1 - Erisman
2 - Garcia
3 - Deshazer
4 - Strawn
5 - Perez
6 - Shumate
7 - Livengood
8 - Ely
9 - Roe
10 - Elliott

HM- Madden, Bahe, Cotton, Schroeder, Caldwell, Cox, Furches,
theman... i'd have to say that strawn is better than erisman. They have wrestled common oppents before, like Zahm, strawn t-falled Zahm and Erisman lost to him.
Kyle Buehler of Lansing. His only loss this year is to a kid from Oak Park. He's undefeated against guys from Kansas at 135.

Buehler
Erisman
Ely
Kellerman
Livengood from BVN is pound for pound the best-the other wrestlers mentioned are great guys but when you look at overall size/strenghth and the pound for pound 'requirement' Livengood tops them all-
Shumate should also be in that list
The most impressive looking wrestler I have seen this year (and since Jeff Boyle) is Sutton-Kern from Concordia. He LOOKS like he could be dominating at 189, 215 or 275.
I haven't seen many eastern KS kids but out west it has to be Roe. He is the best on his feet I have seen in years.
I've been thinking about this "pound for pound" topic. A pound for pound analysis basicaly means who is the best wrestler regardless of the weight. But what is the criteria for picking this wrestler? Let me suggest this: If Kansas High School wrestlers were to have a dual with the rest of the high schools in the United States -- all of them vs. us -- and you could only pick one person to be on the Ks team -- the rest of the team would be filled by a random draw. So if you didn't pick your person it isn't a guarantee that he would be on the team. Then who would your pick be? I would suggest that the person you would pick is your opinion of the best "pound for pound" wrestler in Kansas. For me I would have to decide between Strawn, Eriesman and Tristen.
well it looks like that shut everybody up......i would have to agree with you as well
I would have to go with Tristen. That is about as close to a sure thing from Kansas as you can get.
What about Marc Sommers, he's doin good.
what about shroeder from andale?...
Shumate looks really good this year. In my opinion he is as good as anyone and should not be behind Perez. Larry is a good wrestler and has beaten Nick in the past but I think Nick has improved more than Larry and is now the better wrestler, just an opinion and no offense to Larry, he's very good, but I think Nick is better.
When it comes to 215 lbers. i would have to say Atticus Disney or Jared Eddison. Yea they might not be Undefeated but they could compete or beat any of the 215 lbers. in the state
Aaron Ely. Has pounded almost everyone. Beat Madden handily. Only loss to Livengood who he was handling until he started brawling. Has placed 4x at fargo. Probably the best college prospect KS has along with Stawn, and Erisman. (and he is only a JR)

24/7
deshazer erisman strawn
Well if you're going to say Atticus Disney you would have to include Jared Seimer, seeing as how he did beat him. Seimer has only lost twice. Once from slamming a guy and having to default, and the other was @ derby. I'm not sure who he lost too.
Look - if I had to pick only one kid this year it wouldn't be Atticus and it wouldn't be Seimer (who by the way is a great kid)
looks like atticus disney might be mentioned as one of the all-time greats at his weight when he his finished? 4th place at state as a frosh at that high of a weight is very impressive, as is his national championship at the brute frosh tournament.
I would say Racette from Oakley. He wrestles 215, is only a Soph, and barely weighs 200. He was a State Qualifier as a Freshman and has dominated in NWK all year. His only loss was to Erwin of Hoxie who is currently ranked 3rd in the State and that was due to a back injury. If not for the injury, he would be undefeated at this time. Racette is ranked #2 and and dominated Erwin in the last two matches. In those matches Racette won 8-0 and 6-0. The kid is quick and brutally strong and getting stronger.
I dont know about you people but i have a problem saying lower weights are "pound for pound" the best. Because sometime their competition is so poor. For example, look at Pauly Hansen A MAN among boys in his weight class.
dude you're an idiot...every wrestler faces comp...simply put...deshazer erisman...those guys can't be the best either because they dominate their competition... in a sense is what you are saying...Paulie (check your spelling) lost to caldwell at BVNW...obviously there is comp out there...I guess Roberson wasn't ever the best either cause he never lost in highschool...Sanderson must have been in chump weight classes too since he never lost in college...think about your comments buddy...
i would say any wrestler who particapted in the
state wrestling tournaments this weekend. you all
did an awesome job. congradulations to all who placed in each weight.
most of all congradulations to Valley Center.
great job wrestlers and coaches
