I was just wandering if Labette has picked anyone up in their roster? I know Josh Miller of Seaman is going there and Kevin Gray of Topeka High any other planning on wrestling there?
I have heard rumors that they picked up
Dustin May, Earl Jones, Bobby Tracy, Mike Wilderman, and Nick Akins.
but I am not for sure if they have signed !
Dustin May? won't this be his 4th college? this is the 4x state champ from Derby right?
I heard that matt dukes is going there too.
Most of what everyone has posted is true about Labette. We have picked up all of these kids, except for Dukes. I will ask coach Renfro about him. We have many other recruits on the way besides the guys that have been mentioned. Plus we have at least four returning starters. Labette is going to be stacked next year. Labette is a great institute for a young man to find out if he has what it takes to be a college wrestler. Coach Renfro took me from a two time placer in Kansas 5th place twice to a National Champion!

Tell coach to take me there aaron. I have 8 months of tech school then i am ready.
I have heard that Micheal Bradley is now wrestling for Labette!
You happen to be right. I do not know where u get your info from but it is correct. Now all he has to do is make the lineup. Labette is deep this year. The Cards have the ability to wreslte with a different lineup for a good portion of the season. This way nobody will know what is coming at them until there is about a month left.

I was wondering what time the alumni dual started and if the LCC take down tourney is open to anyone and if they will let someone from high school wrestle in it? Please resopnd ASAP
P.S. I predict Josh Miller to beat Jerry Gibson.
The Alumni Dual is at 3 p.m. 10-25-03. The takedown tournament is on the 1st of 11-01-03. The following weekend. It is an open, but I do not think that high school entries are accepted. In my 2 years at Labette I have not seen or heard of any high schoolers in the tournament.

what r the rules of the takedown tourney? best two out of three takedowns in a match and u win? do top 3 finishers in each weight get medals or something?
Rules for last year's event were as follows:
Matches on the championship side and in the match for third and fourth are one three minute period. After points are scored both wrestlers are placed back on their feet.
Scoring on the championship side:
1 point is awarded for a regular takedown with no back exposure.
2 points are awarded for a takedown where the opponent is taken to his back but not held. No count required.
3 points are awarded for a takedown to the back with the opponent being held in near fall criteria for a five count. A pin can be awarded within the five count if the shoulders are flat for one second. Match returns to neutral position when the bottom man breaks near fall criteria or the five count is reached.
8 point lead results in a technical fall.
If the three minutes ends in a tie - the following criteria decides the match:
1). most 3 pt moves
2). most 2 pt moves
3). most activity points scored
4). any warnings or infractions received result in a loss
5). untimed sudden victory.
Consolation side have the potential of being 3 one minute periods. But a takedown ends the period. Best 2 of 3 takedowns wins the match and no extra points for near fall exposure or a fall can be recorded. If no takedown is recorded after one minute in the first two periods, the referee selects the aggressor and give him that period. The third period would then be an untimed sudden victory.
Awards were given, but I can't recall if it went through third or fourth place.
i like the format of that...kinda like a happy median of freestyle and folkstyle I guess....and while I'm thinking about it can someone post the alumni dual results?
For those who wanted them, I have a few results from the Labbette Alumi dual of the Kansas kids I recognized. Keep in mind that it was only three 1 minute periods and the alumni got 3 timeouts.
Some of the current labbette wrestlers had to wrestle other current wrestlers.
125lbs. Kevin Gray wrestled (lost I think)
125lbs. Earl Jones decision Greg Smith
133lbs. Derek Patterson decision Emory McReynolds
133lbs. (alumni)Chas Thompson pin Cody Lambotte
141lbs. Mike Wilderman decision (alumni) Tim Herman
149lbs. Mike Delk maj. Josh Miller
Thats all I can remember for now, The matches went by pretty fast.
what was the score of gray's match and who did he wrestle.
