The All-American status referred to in the post above are return NJCAA All-Americans.

Josh Baldridge attained high school All-American status!
Brackets have been released: http://www.intermatwrestle.com/college/results/February/njcaabrackets.pdf

Edgmon gets an early test with #7 McArthur of Harper in the first round at 125 while Elliot gets one of a very few byes at that weight. (NJCAA folks don't know how to bracket well, there is a double bye early on in that bracket)

Must be a blind draw.Tim gets a bye first round, however should get Hoffman Iowa central in his second match.Pitting the #1 vs #2 very early in the tourney.
JUCO Nationals uses a blind draw system. I saw the #1 and #2 125lbers wrestle 1st round. The #2 wrestle got beat in OT and came all the way back to get 3rd in the tourney.
Good luck to all the Kansas teams and their wrestlers ... especially those who are homers!

Parks, I think they seperate returning All Americans though. I don't know how that system works, but I am fairly sure of that. Can't wait to see the Cards bring another title home. Look out Iowa Central and North Idaho!

They separate returning national champions....but not returning All-Americans. A few years back there were three retunring All-Americans (Aurel Cuifulescu, OT Johnson and Keri Stanley on one side of the bracket and one on the other (Alex Hernandez).

Otherwise it is a random draw based on regional finish - 1st place Regional A vs ...etc. People from the same regional are not supposed to hit until the quarters except for wildcards - who receive no consideration in bracket placement.

I too hope Labette - or any other Kansas team - is able to bring home the title.....but Iowa Central and North Idaho are solid teams - plus they have the advantage of wrestling in weaker regionals - so they bring a bunch of regional champions in who get dropped into the bracket in more favorable location.....but that's the nature of the beast when the five teams in your region are always in the nation's elite.

Perfect example of how tough the west central region can be is Bryan Miller. He never won a match at regionals during his two years at Colby, but was a 2x wildcard selection into the national tournament. He went on to place 5th at nationals as a freshman and 2nd as a sophomore.

Thank you for the correction. The West Central has been the toughest for a lot of years. It will only be tougher with the addition of Coach Thompson at Pratt now. There have been a lot of wildcards All American out of the region. That would be an interesting stat stacked up against the other regions. I have faith the Cards will bring it home. I wish that Labette and Iowa Central would have been able to duel this year. In the old days they would duel at least once.
Anyone headed to Rochester this week? Just curious to know who from Kansas will be there to watch.
