C.J. got beat my Kendric Maple in the big 12's, for the 2nd time this year, Kendric was an at large invitation from Oklahoma!! Very deserving!!
Tough loss for Erisman. Dustin Schlatter Med for.
After the first round the only guys seeded in the top eight that got knocked off were #Nick Marable from Missouri at 165, and the #8 seed at 74's. There were several of the lower seeds knocked off.
Just in - Tyler Caldwell - in the quarter finals.
Caldwell wins his second match over the #5 seed!!!!
He must have gotten his toughness from his mama!!!
I just watched Kendric Maple live on the net beat Sentes on the backside
For those Juco fans out there....Bobby Ward of North Carolina State and Brandon Willamson of West Virginia(both formerly of Nassau CC) won their first matches. Williamson won his next one and is now in the quarters. Colby Covington of Oregon St. (formerly ICCC) is in the quartes as well. I didn't spot any other JC transfers.
Jesse Strawn lost a tight one and has to win three on the back side to AA.
Brown from ODU knocked off the #4 seed Reader of Iowa State at 165. Caldwell will see Brown in the quarters.
#3, #4, and #5 have all been sent to the back side in the 165 bracket.
[quote=ike]Tough loss for Erisman. Dustin Schlatter Med for.
****The bracket shows Erisman as moving on. Did he win, but was injured? What exactly happened with this Schlatter/Erisman match? Thanks.
Schlatter entered the tournament with an injury and the injury was further exacerbated in his first round match, which Schlatter injury defaulted!
Schlatter injury defaulted to Erisman in the consolation wrestlebacks.
Bummer deal for Schlatter. Thank you for the info Richard.
Undefeated national champ as a freshman - then to finish this way. Or, will the ncaa give him another year due to this injury? He is a senior - correct?
I highly doubt he will get another year of eligibility. He competed in way to many competitions this year to be granted the medical redshirt.
Hey, He has a title to his name and two other AA finishes....I don't feel too bad for him. He was (and will continue to be) a helluva competitor. There is a long, long, long list of talented shoulda, woulda, coulda's that had their careers ended or stunted due to injury. It's a big part of this sport unfortunately.
Kendric Maple advances to the next round with a fall over Kelly Kubec in the 133 lb. wrestlebacks.

165 -- Joining Lister as "those most likely not to be in the NCAA semifinals" is Oklahoma freshman Tyler Caldwell (31-12), a native of Wichita, Kan.
