7:44 p.m. CST: By far the most impressive performance of the tournament! No. 1 Jake Patacsil is winning 14-0 to start the second and got taken down with a cement job to his back and stuck by Chase Nelson (Oklahoma). Never give up, kids.

Good job Chase. Never give up.
Gotta love that win by Nelson! It reminds me of that picture of the frog being swallowed by the crane but the frog has his hands around the cranes throat choking him...always been a favorite.
Also a major change you may not have noticed, Nelson is at 57's and Caldwell at 65's. I don't know if this is a permanent change or not. I'm sure Caldwell was sucking hard to get down and his performance was a little off. Asper is a stud though. Nelson is much better suited to 57's and I'm sure Caldwell will do great again at 65's after making weight a few times. I'm suprised that Detmer doesn't slide in at 65's and Caldwell stay at 74's though. I think this makes OU a stronger team.

In the results it says Chase won by fall in 5:21...wouldn't that put the match into the start of the 3rd period?

Wow! Nelson in the finals of the Midlands with a low seeded opponent in the finals.
#8 Chase Nelson's opponent in the finals will be #7 Kyle John from Maryland.

At 157 lbs. Chase Nelson is your 2010 Midlands Champion with a 11-7 finals match victory.
At 165 lbs. Tyler Caldwell places third with an 11-3 victory over Zach Toal from Missouri.
Jordan Keller defeated Ridge Kiley (Nebraska) 5-2 for seventh place at 133 lbs.
Gotta love the Wichita and Suburban area! Nice to see two GWAL kids with Midlands Medals and of course Tyler Caldwell!!!! Nice job gentlemen!
Wow Chase Nelson! I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Midlands but this was once considered THE BEST folkstyle tourney in the country, even better than NCAA D1 tourney. It used to have a lot more post-grads wrestle in it but it is still, no doubt, in the top 5 toughest tourneys in the country...probably top 3. This is a serious accomplishment!
Caldwell came up big and came through the back door. I must have looked at last years brackets because I was confused with his results.
Congrats to Keller as well.
http://www.soonersports.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/okla/sports/m-wrestl/auto_pdf/fallreportfinalCheck out the fall report. Chase was a few seconds shy of winning that too. DeShazer was right behind him at number 3.
