I am not saying any of these kids would have signed with K-State, KU or Wichita State (If they had programs. But If they would have, this would have put them in 8th Place above Oregon State. Just looking at the points Kansas kids scored. Take talent like this, leave it in the state, recruit some out of staters or even more in-staters and you have a good top 5 team.

No, not a PSU or OSU... but a legit top 5 team. In my opinion, Wichita State would be the best place to put one of these programs to avoid battling with football on Title IX.

Just makes me sick that we can't get a Varsity Level Division 1 program in this state and probably never will!!!

Sorry, just sitting here dreaming!
I agree. And if you think about it some of the kids that did go DII this year and were successful might of stayed in state and had some success at the DI level. Chase Nelson, Romero Cotton and Daniel Deshazer were all in the finals and I think all would of had a decent chance at AA at the DI level. If we had a solid DI program it would give these kids a chance to stay in the state and accomplish big things.

I think every time an AD is changed at the DI schools there is a new opportunity to push for the addition of wrestling again. It does seem like Wichita State would be the best location. Also, it was mentioned by the ESPN announcers twice that Maple, Caldwell, and Beard were all from Wichita.
There has been a lot of work done and you are correct that the athletic director and school administration must be behind any NCAA DI proposal 100%. The financial situation at all of the 3 division I schools in Kansas is very important to this discussion. The Kansas Board of Regents is another great contact source and provide some very valuable information. Your Kansas legislature and the governor also play an important role. But the ultimate decision comes from each of the schools adminstration. The Kansas Business community and individuals who help support the schools have a very important role in convincing the adminstration that the demand for a DI college wrestling program exists.

The K-State proposal could be used and improved as a guide for any school of the 3 schools.
