where are these being held at?
Enid, Oklahoma..I'm still trying to figure out why we have so many open weights, I'm sure that some other guys would have graciously filled in as we have 3 open weights.
Can you believe Shane Nay (MO) got pinned in :05???!!!
whered u see this at?
are u down there?
Will Cornejo drop to 145 for freestlye? I hope so, because it would really steal some of our thunder if Grater and Cornejo have to split time!!!!!
If they can spread out 130-171 is stacked!!!!
Our lower weights are pretty solid too with Altman, Perez, and Elliot.
We should have a great freestyle team again this year!
Yeah, but that won't be our freestlye team
It will probably look more like
98- Furches ?
105- Ely ?
112- Altman, Perez
119- Bahe
125- Elliot
130- DeSasher
135- Baldridge
140- Moses ?
145- Cornejo (hopefully)
152- Grater
160- Eirsman
171- Taplin
189- Marrs ?
215- Edison ?
275- Sprigg ?
If anyone knows for sure correct my lineup!
I think Fisher is at 130 and they'll split Baldridge and Deshaser up between 135 and 140.
where is Schumate???
Slambam
We're wrestling the #1 Seed Florida now.
ROUND 2: The #1 seed Florida beat us 47-12. We forfeited 4 weights. The only two wins we got were Cornejo (tech fall) and Disney won 7-1.
ROUND 3: Kansas 33, Iowa 28. We beat Iowa even with 4 open weights! Altman, Elliott, Deshaser, Baldridge, Cornejo, Kearn, Edison and Disney won.
We are now 2-1
Our Pool is:
#9 Kansas
#1 Florida
#8 Iowa
#16 Colorado
Virginia
N. Carolina
California
****My 100th post......
Looks like we got the toughest ones out of the way unless California is really underrated.

Chief-
From reading the updated results I see that Cornejo did make weight at 145lbs. and just wrestled up for one dual.
Deshazer made weight at 130lbs. and Baldrige at 135lbs.
looks like most of my predictions for the middle weights are right so far, I am not sure what are upper and lower weights will be.
Should be a salty Freestlye team!!!!!!!!
does anybody know if erisman, grater, taplin, and marrs just couldnt make it down for the greco competition or did they just want to specialize in freestyle?
By what Linda Grater said they wanted to be fresh for freestlye. It's a very long hard week of wrestling when doing both styles!!!
I'm a bit disappointed in the number of matches we are forfeiting in Greco. Granted the light weights might be hard to fill, but there are plenty of guys if given the time could have made the 105 weight at least.
105 could have been Rein of Abilene
152 and 160 could have been a number of guys.
Chenoweth could have made 160 for greco if he was training to go. Not saying they would win all the time at those weights, but it would mean that opposing teams would have to earn a win instead of a forfeit at those weights.
It is true that our Freestyle team is the priority. We should have our weights filled by then. I know Neil Erisman and Taplin will be there for Freestyle. Oklahoma did the same thing in the Cadet Duals. Their Greco team wasn't close to their 3rd place finish in Freestyle. Erisman only wrestled Freestyle at most if not all tournaments these past few years. It's partly the same reason that the U.S. team is seperated between Freestyle and Greco. Nobody wrestles both at that level. I am disappointed though that we can't fill a full Greco team. We need to get the word out to our local clubs that these events are coming and encourage our kids to participate!!
We just beat North Carolina! 35-17.
California is next. Florida killed Iowa 49-13. They are for real. Can't wait to here about Rocky Cozart vs. Neil Erisman in Freestyle.
We are 3-1 in our pool! If we beat California and Virginia, we should make the medal round!
That Iowa win was big.

I guess the thing that bugs me is Cadets have All Americaned for the quite a few years in a row now, but when it comes time for Juniors...we have trouble fielding the team? C'mon, where are these guys?
I think if it comes down to it we might bump a guy or so if it is close...we have Tait and Chase there.

I believe that leaves only Virginia, a team that gives more forfeits than we do - we are sitting good to make it into the championship rounds.
Kansas 33, 3/4 of Virginia 23
98 - William Wilde (V) won by forfeit
105 - NO MATCH

275 - David Speaker (V) won by forfeit
We have a guy named Steven Fish? I don't recognize that name.
We just got home from Enid. What a great day of wrestling. Yes, It is pathetic that we cannot field a full team for Greco! BUT, man did our guys step up to win every dual but Florida. Please note the names of who beat Baldridge and Edison. Ever hear of Cesar Grajalas and David Craig? Only two to the best in the country. Cozart got a forfeit at 160. Also, note that Atticus Disney and Steve Andrus came off a full week, without alternates, at the Cadet Duals and offered to fill in at 215 and 275. Atticus is 6-0 today! Everyone bumped around and we came out on top (well, next to Florida

!
Here is what I know for FS.
98-Brandon Goodwin
105-Colin Hase
112-Donny Altman
119-Brett Bahe
125-Tim Elliot
130-Tristan Deshazer,Josh Baldridge
135-Chase Moses
140-Tyler Adcock,Tait Weatherbee
145-Joseph Cornejo
152-Danny Grater
160-Neil Eisman
171-Ross Taplin, Chris Sutton-Kearn
189-Neil Cisper
215-Josh Marrs
275-
Edison, Disney and Andrus will go home after Greco. Edison may possibly stay as a alternate at 189/215.
Should be a very strong team. We will head back in the am but we finished early and start late so we came on home. Until tomorrow!!!!!!!!
Ms. Jenni
Also, Blake Fisher very likely fractured his right clavicle, collarbone and is on his way home to check it out. Happened on his first match at the end, he was going to win and the guy got him to his back, he likely broke it when he hit and then the other guy wrapped him up tight, which usually doesn't happen, and he had him in peril of fall, but Blake never went down until time ran out. He lost by 2 points, but braved it out for the team. Not a Happy young man to be going home after the first match.
I heard that Sprigg might be down there for FS, Is that true?
per jarrett,no, as of now.
hmmm...maybe they will bump Marrs up to HWT if needed or bring in Jarret for HWT?

Our household was turned inside out trying to get Brandon (98) down to Oklahoma for greco. He and Colin Hase will be there to hopefully fill the spots for freestyle. (98 and 105)

Coach Ed: Just to make a "correction". It's Jacob Marrs NOT Josh Marrs!
In regards to other posts and Danny not wrestling Greco, he loves he style. However, we were in the harvest field and he felt he needed to help his dad with wheat harvest. From Mom's point of view, I'm glad he did - I DO NOT like driving the semi!
He has participated in these grueling dual team tournaments for several years and knows how the body feels when you do both styles every match! Earlier when Coach Rieck talked to him, they were trying to get two "FRESH" teams (one for FS / one for GR), he choose to do freestyle.
I also believe when you get into the Junior age group, there are individuals who have summer jobs, involved in "other" sports/camps, along with just having a life that maybe doesn't include wrestling over the summer. To be honest, it gets expensive for parents and these wrestlers. They need to work to pay for a vehicle, save for college, and other things.
Keep up the good work TEAM KANSAS!! Cheer them on!
Leanna Grater
Glad Brandon can make it! Hopefully Jarrett can stay. Where is Paulie Hanson or Jesse Strawn? Jesse pinned Marrs at state and would really help. Also, Nick Shumate? Surely they will move Baldridge to 135.
Looking forward to Freestyle!
Not sure if Brandon will be able to help, but at least the team will not have to give up the points before the dual starts.
I agree, even scoring 1 point in a match will help our team points. Has he wrestled Chaz Lawrence?
The following is a report that I received from Chuck & Cherie Elvin:
June 30, 2005
2005 USA WRESTLING NATIONAL JUNIOR DUALS
Team Kansas Greco wrestlers had an outstanding day yesterday finishing 2nd in their pool to #1 seeded Florida. Team scores follow:
Kansas__Opponent
32 . . . . 25 . . . . Colorado Bada Bing
12 . . . . 47 . . . . Florida
33 . . . . 25 . . . . Iowa
35 . . . . 17 . . . . North Carolina Fury
37 . . . . 24 . . . . California Cheese
33 . . . . 23 . . . . Virginia ¾
The above results are especially good when one considers that the Kansas team had no wrestlers at 98,105,152 and 160 lb weight classes. The Kansas roster follows:
Wrestler(s)
112 Donny Altman
119 Brett Bahe
125 Tim Elliott Blake Fisher *
130 Tristan Deshazer James Fox *
135 Josh Baldridge Chase Moses *
140 Tyler Adcock Tait Weatherbee *
145 Joe Cornejo
171 Chris Sutton-Kearns
189 Jarrett Edison
215 Atticus Disney
HWT Steve Andrus
*Wrestlers at these weights shared duties.
Anybody know what the All American Pools look like today?

Props to Danny for helping out dad with harvest. Some people just can't realize these kids have lives outside the sport of wrestling and sometimes greater (or in this case Grater) priorities.

You beat me to the question.
Kansas can still wind up doing well. They need guys to step up with bonus wins against the other teams though in order to beat some of them.
Probably because the Referees' were on a power high
Is he out for the rest of the duals?
That would be a big blow to Team KS!!!!!
He wasn't dq'd. I don't know where that came fron.
The DQ on Tristan is wrong. He got tch falled by Ness but no problems otherwise. I know this because I watched it with my own eyes.
Sorry, about the Marrs kids name Leanna, I was really tired. I know which one it is just messed up.
Kansas Took 8th in Greco with a loss to MN, IL, CA and PA. Tough when you give up 16 points right off the bat. We lost to CA by 1 pt.
Jarrett came home and I am 90% sure he has broken ribs so I didn't think wrestling FS at the higher weights was such a great idea. We need to heal up for Fargo. I think the FS team should do well anyway. The 3 big guys (Edison, Disney and Andrus) did well for the team but they had to leave it to the fresh guys.
Here's another update from Chuck & Cherie Elvin:
July 1, 2005
2005 USA WRESTLING NATIONAL JUNIOR DUALS
Team Kansas Greco wrestled well but just had too many holes in the line up to overcome their opponents in the Blue Pool yesterday. They did manage to finish in 8th place in the championship bracket. The Kansas Blue Pool results follow:
KS Opp
13 48 Minnesota Special Eds
27 36 Illinois
29 30 California “We have better COWS”
The results for the Championship finals are as follows:
Place Score Team (Seed)
1st - 45-15 Minnesota Special Eds #2
2nd - ----- Michigan #7
3rd - 34-27 Florida #1
4th - ----- Illinois #6
5th - 31-30 Missouri Ramrods #5
6th - ----- California COWS #4
7th - 44-19 Pennsylvania Wild Childs #3
8th - ----- Kansas #9
9th - 33-28 New York Empire #11
10th - ----- Texas Yellow Roses #10
It is confirmed. Edison's ribs are broken and now Fargo is in question. There is mourning at the Edison house.

They haven't posted it yet.

We're 2-0!!! And Florida is next! (They only beat Indiana 38-22.)
Yeah, but it doesnt look like Florida has had their "A" team in the first couple of duals
There could could be a couple of outstanding matches
Piasecki v. Tristan Deshazer
Baldridge v. Grajales
Eirsman v. Cozart
Taplin v. Craig (#1 recruit in the Nation!!!)
In Greco there were some close loses, I think we will do much better against them in freestyle and possibly come out with a victory. If we win any of the above matchups it will really improve our chances!
Good Luck Kansas!!!!!
The Florida board is reporting that Cozart is sitting out for Freestyle. Hammonds will be his toughest test from Illinois. He's rated #1 in the nation at 160.
Cozart has a hurt knee plus weighed in at 172.5 so is technically a 189 pound wrestler for this tournament. Could be one reason he is not wrestling.
