I know that the dates of the Silver College are not ideal this year, but still, it is a tremendous opportunity! The college costs $225.00 and here is what you’ll get.
Two full days of technique taught by some of the finest coaches in the world. Clinicians like Dan Gable, Dan Chandler, Tom & Terry Brands, Steve Frazier, Kevin Jackson, will be your instructors. You will be in the classroom for part of this but you will get tons of “on-the-mat” sessions. In the past, we have also had current stars Rulon Gardner, Garrett Lowney, and others.
You also receive an All-Session ticket to the Olympic Team trials. During breaks of the trials you will have more clinic sessions. There have been and will be other opportunities to attend a Silver College but only ONE, in every four years, is in conjunction with the Olympic Team trials. This alone makes this a unique opportunity.
Then there are the incidentals! A coach’s shirt that indicates you have attended the college and a “coach’s social.” The social is no small deal and USA Wrestling treats you right.
The College is a tremendous fellowship with coaches from all over the nation. You will be able to network and make friends that you’ll see in the future.
If wrestling is a family … don’t miss one of the biggest family re-unions of the season!
Randy, what are the specs on the Silver College? Dates? Times? etc? Also is there a link we can obtain more information? Thanks.
Here is the link to USAW's page.
web page There is another message on this board that also has info about car-pooling!
Is this a freestyle/greco or a folkstyle technique camp
It is a freestyle and Greco camp but a great deal of the techniques can be used in Folkstyle.
Don't forget about this clinic! The time is fast approaching!!!
Only 6 weeks left till the Silver Coaches College and the Olympic Team Trials!
I can't wait for this years Silver Coaches College and the Olympic Trials. I can't wait to see if Cael Sanderson can fight his way through the mini-tournament and beat Lee Fulhart. I can't wait to see Eric Akin and Zach Roberson!
It is time to sign up for this clinic! Stop being so wishy-washy and sign up.
Brett Shoffner wants to go, Russ Hermreck wants to go ... who else?
When and where did Aiken qualify for the tournament?
Hopefully Bunch will be there too.
He can still wrestle and win Northeast or Southeast qualifier, right?
Akin finished third at the Central Regional qualifier held in Laramie, Wyoming.
I hope Shawn can make it too!
I didn't think that Akin had qualified yet. I thought only the champ from the regionals qualified with the top 8 from Nationals. I could be wrong. I think it says in one of the USA Wrestler magazines but I can't seem to find one of the three they always send me. I always take the extras and give them to people to promote our sport. Now I can't find the one I kept.
Any one out there.... give up a little clarification..................
I know Akin forfeited a match to Roberson in LV because he had already qualified and that allowed Zach to qualify also. rhill
I also thought that only the champion of each regional earned a spot. I have also looked on the list of qualifiers provided by themat.com and did not see Aiken's name on there.
is there such a thing as past world team members?
I was wondering if that was the deal too, does anyone know for sure?
After rereading the criteria I still cannot figure out how he has already qualified. Randy if you know please tell the rest of us, I have been straining my peanut sized brain trying to figure this out!
with USA Wrestling anything is posible, which is not necessary a bad thing. More competitive is all their looking for.
As Randy Hill also said, all I know is what I was told by Eric and by Kevin Klemm. He forfeited his match to Zach because he was already qualified.
Okay, I am 99.9% certain (found the info on themat.com message boards) that past world team members are automatic qualifiers.
Also, if this were not an olympic year, the NCAA champs are automatics!
Now ... back to the real question. Are you guys going to Indy?
The Edison's are going to the trials, not the college this time.
I wish I could go but money is tight since I am substituting this year. I will try to go next year after I get all my tasks done. Oh what fun that is......
On the Akin deal, If he has medical documents stating that he could not continue at Nationals he can petition into the trials. I looked on themat.com and it told about the stipulations.
Here is the website with the info.....
http://themat.com/pressbox/pressdetail.asp?aid=9630 It tell about the Olympic trials requirements.
Petitions into the Final Olympic Trials tournament will be limited to former World or Olympic Team members who were ill or injured and unable to compete or complete the National Championships. The injury or illness must be certified in writing by a medical doctor approved by USA Wrestling. USAW approval of medical doctor will not be unreasonably withheld.
Here is what it said.......Hope they did what they needed to do. It just wouldn't be an Olympic trials without Eric.
Absolutely, I've seen him compete in the last five. And, there is no backing out now, I just mailed off money for this years event. Anyone else going? Need a ride?
Hello,
just thought I'd help out with some info--
Eric is qualified and training hard for the Trials, he's currently on his way to Colorado for a couple days. I know he has always appreciated all the support he gets from the whole state of Kansas, you have all been so awesome to him over the years. I know he'll be back to Kansas someday soon. Hope a lot of you can make it to Indy to support Eric and Zach!
Thanks Again!
... and here's your chance! Attend the Silver College and Olympic Team Trials. Sign up soon!
I am planning to leave on this trip in fifteen days! If you are wanting to carpool please respond.
