Kansas Wrestling

I have a wrestler who would like to try and qualify for Fargo, however I made a mistake when talking to him about this issue. I thought he was eligible for cadet, but later found him to be to old. I originally had told him to wrestle with the Central Kansas Club, attend the southern plains camp and use the Southern Plains cadet tournament as his qualifier. Not gonna happen since he is now in the junior division. Is there any other qualifiers, besides the Missouri one in April, that would allow him to go to Fargo? The club he will practice with doesn't start practice until 10 days prior to the Missouri tournament. He has wrestled FS/GR before, but has been out for several seasons and I want him to have the best chance possible. I have tried to email a few people, but my email is on the blink and my emails have not gone through. If anyone has any info. I'm unaware of (which is probably a lot) please post it.
Thanks.

Have your wrestler train for and compete in the Kansas State FS/GR Tournament to be held in Junction City on June 5-6. If he places top three either style, this will qualify him for the Kansas National team which will compete in Fargo (at least this is how it has been done in the past, unless the coaching staff has a different selection process in mind?).

Even if he does not place at Junction City, he should still sign up for the National Team training camp and he will most likely (but not always) be able to find a spot on the team. He can challenge for a spot sometimes, or there are often openings (a kid who placed at State does not intend to make the trip to Fargo), or a kid may perhaps want to do only one style, leaving an opening somewhere.

In all my years of coaching on the national team staff, it was very uncommon for a kid to not be able to find a spot on the national team. While it does happen on occasion, much more often than not a kid can find a spot on the team.

He also could attend a Regional (the closest one is usually in Oklahoma, Southern Plains; but there are others if he is willing to travel) and place top three which would qualify him automatically for Fargo regardless of KS placing.

You could contact Coach Mike Garcia (junior director) at Hutchinson HS for more information.

Thanks to all of you who responded. By the way, to Kit, Coach Garcia, and Coach Wyles: If you responded by email to any of the emails I have sent you, I apologize for not getting back with you. I just found out my district has installed a software program that won't allow certain domains to contact us at school (their way of cutting down on viruses). So, if they unistall the software I'll be able to read your responses. Until then I can be reached at mawcoach@aol.com.
Thanks,
Mike Wilbur
