Summer is coming up. Here's a list of good young adult books about our sport. Reading is a great way to improve scholastic performance and broaden one's horizons. For teens who don't think about anything but wrestling, maybe these reads will open a door.

Anderson, Glenn, "A Brown Bag Lunch" (my all-time favorite)

Benjamin, E.M.J., "Takedown" [1999]

Conifer, Dave, "Throwback" [2004]

Connely, Neil, "St. Michael's Scales" [2002]

Davis, Terry, "VisionQuest" [198*]

Martino, Alfred, "Pinned" [2005]

Corbin, Craig, "Tiptoes of Expectations" [autobiography]

Wallace, Rich, "Wrestling Sturbridge" [1997]

^^ Thanks Jeff. Since surgery is in my future this summer, I'm going to check these out. I hear that Pinned is really good....

Cool, Scotty, good luck with the surgery.

I already mentioned that "A Brown Bag Lunch" is my favorite. "Pinned" and "Throwback" are both new. For me, these two are far more realistic than any of the others, and have richer non-wrestling subplots. Just my personal opinion.

"Tiptoes of Expectations" is an autobiography by Craig Corbin, who placed 4th in the NCAA in 1988. He's got a pretty interesting story to tell. Currently he's working on "growing" wrestling in urban areas of Pennyslvania.

Thanks Jeff ^^ I'm getting to wrestle this upcmoing season still so I'm still pretty happy. For all I know, I could even write a short story about my first season of wrestling/ my first year of EVER wrestling as I recoup from Surgery.... Hey that gives me an ideas

He's probably just like me...doesn't care for reading...I get most of my reading on here, but if something is too long I'll get the shortend version later from someone else.

Just bumped the info on Pinned. If you call Mr. Martino he will send you a signed copy of the book. Mine arrived in less than a week.

Free? or do you have to pay?

It was around $17, that is the cost of most books now a days. He also has the book on audio for those with reading impairments but it cost quite a bit more.
