As the college football season enters crunch time, it's worth taking a look at the contenders and pretenders. Here is what a Sooner born fan thinks...

Best chance at the title game:
- LSU, Oklahoma or Ohio State. OU has 3 of the last 4 games at home. They have Texas A&M, Baylor, at Texas Tech and OSU left. They will likely face either MU or KU in San Antonio. Not a lot of strength on that schedule, besides an undefeated KU team that could be as high as BCS #5 if they run the table. (A big if). LSU has, at Alabama, Louisiana Tech (ugh), at Ole Miss and Arkansas at home. If they get by Alabama, the SEC title game could match them up with Florida, S. Carolina or Georgia. I say LSU runs the table and is in the BCS championship game at home in New Orleans. Ohio State has, at Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois and at Michigan. Their defense is for real. They have no title game (which is lame). I still think Ohio State gets tripped up. PREDICTION: OU vs. LSU

- Others... Arizona State is undefeated. They won't survive, Cal, at Oregon, at UCLA and USC at home. Oregon has USC, Arizona St., at Arizona and at UCLA. Boston College is also unbeaten. They have not even played a top 25 team yet. They finally get a test at Virginia Tech Thursday night. They then play Florida St, at Maryland and at a 5-1 Clemson team. Does anybody really think BC is for real?

Sleeper: USC. It's just fun calling them a sleeper. After all, they are BCS #8 and still 6-1. (Thank you Stanford). They have, @ Oregon, Oregon State, @ Cal and @ Arizona St. They could roll their way back in the picture. (Say it ain't so).

Does this sound like a biased Sooner fan writing his team into the BCS championship? OK, you got me. Roll on Big Red!

At least it's listed in the correct forum of "Other"!

I am, at this point ashamed to admit I'm a Husker born fan (Maybe Dr. Tom will make a position for himself and bring the dreaded wishbone back!!!) But KU does look good and I don't know why you'd say "A big if". Texas A&M will be a good game for KU to fly or get shot down. Then look at the rest of their schedule: a much weaker Nebraska for homecoming, @ Okie St. home for Iowa St. and then the border war with Mizzou @ Arrowhead.
KU could be the sleeper you're looking for...

It is still a big if. At College Station, at Stillwater and beating MU is a tall mountain to climb.

I thought you said that life was too short to take the talk forums seriously. A friendly post on the "other" forum causes anxiety with you? Some things never change.

This is the policy statement that appears at the top of the page when posting to the forum:

This is a free forum, created for the purpose of promoting Kansas wrestling, and those who wrestle, through the exchange of thoughts and suggestions, and for the recognition of the accomplishments of those involved in our sport. There are just two basic rules that are necessary to keep in mind. First, remember that this is a family oriented forum, and is regularly viewed by young wrestlers. Second, "cheap shots" will not be tolerated. If you are going to post a message critical of an individual, group or idea, you must give your true name and/or email address. Be willing to stand behind your comments, or keep them to yourself. Comments regarding this policy may be directed to Mike Juby at mikejuby@usawks.com.

Actually Richard did not provide the entire policy statement and in fact omitted the only two basic rules on the policy statement that followed what he provided us. In reading the entire forum policy statement I do not believe it precludes the discussion of any other subject or sport. And in fact the two stated basic rules in the above full policy statement do not restict the forum discussion to only wrestling. There would really be no reason to have an Other forum if we were not allowed to bring up other topics.

Richard, I do not understand your position here because I know that you have in the past posted some of your own political views on this forum. I would not be surprised that there are a number of other posts of yours besides your political posts that deviate from Kansas wrestling topics in your over 5300 posts.

Now back to the topic, if KU runs the table beating MU and then probably Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game, then in my opinion they would deserve to be in the BCS championship bowl game at the end of the year. I don't think it is going to happen but after winning on the road at KSU and Colorado, it is possible. Of course I believe they play Texas A&M on the road next and it could all end there. I also think it will be tough for them to beat MU this year too.
