I am sorry to post that Wayman Tisdale has lost his battle with cancer and has passed away at 44 years old. I went to school with Wayman at OU and will always remember him as the greatest college basketball player of all-time. He had a gentle spirit about him and was a class act.

When living in Tulsa Wayman actually volunteered and contributed to the program I was executive director at. He loved Barbeque and what a lot of people don't know is that he was a tremendous bass guitar player and had recorded several CD's. This last Christmas while in Tennessee I spent some time with Calvin Talford, the tremendous basketball player from East Tennessee State University that almost beat Oklahoma in the NCAA's one year. Calvin and I spoke about Wayman during that interview which I recorded. Another nice thing to know about Wayman, he was a former youth pastor and deeply devoted to his faith as a Christian. He was as gentle a human being as I ever met to be so dominant in the sport he loved. Wayman Tisdale was a man who could teach every athlete a lesson or two, I know he taught me a few things and it was an honor to have known him. 44 years of age is far to young, but he took those 44 years and gave a ton back to his community, fans and most of all, his Lord.
