Ok most schools are going to make decisions in my opinion on heavy revenue sport of football, thus...NCAA Football realignment thoughts: So it sounds like Nebraska is going Big 10, so now it is uneven in the Big 12 with 11 teams. If Colorado and the Big 12 South (minus Baylor) go to Pac 10 which has been the rumors on the net, that leaves Kstate, KU, Missouri, and Baylor looking for conferences. Big 12 essentially would be dead!

IDEA A:
I think Ku, MU, and Kstate could join Mountain West giving that conferece 12 as well. Then have AirForce, Kstate, KU, MU, TCU and New Mexico be 1/2 the division. The other half would be Colorado State, SanDiego St, Unlv, Utah, Wyoming, and BYu.

That leaves Baylor on their own...but, I would have them join the 9 team conference in the Wac and split that up to 2 divisions. Baylor, La Tech, Fresno State, NM State, and UT State in one side and Hawii, SJ State, Nevada, Idaho, and Boise State in the other. Baylor would be smart to avoid joining Conference USA in my opinion since 3 other Texas schools are members of that conference and recruiting may be hindered. If KU, KState, and MU join any other conference leaving Mountain West open, I like Baylor to go to the Mountain West and making it a 10 team conference with Baylor, Col. State, AirForce, TCU, and New Mexico being on 1 side with Sd State, UNLV, Utah, Wyoming and BYU on the other.

Idea B:
Have Baylor and Missouri join the SEC. Put Missouri in the West with Auburn, Babma, Mississippi, Miss St., Arkansas and LSU.
Put Baylor in the East with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vandy, and Kentucky

Kstaste and Ku could become Big East members but that would put it up to 10 in that conferenc. Kstate, KU, Cincy, Louisville and South Florida in The South. Pittsburgh, Ruthgers, Syracuse, UCONN, and West Va in the North.

Idea C:

KU, KState, MU, and Baylor stick their grounds and stay together. You can't really have a 4 team conference, so here is the catch...get Independents: Army, Navy, and Western Kentucky to join you (OK now we are at 7). We already know Notre Dame will not give up being an idependent to join these weak teams, so maybe extend an invite to Tulsa to make it an 8 team conference. Then make it Ku, Kstate, Tulsa and Baylor in the West. Missouri, Navy, Army and Western Ky in the East. Keep in mind that only an 8 team conference would allow for expansion in the future. For now you would play all other 7 teams more then likely in the regular season and have no conference championship game.

Thoughts? Enlighten Me!
I just realized the forgotten team: Iowa State. Looks like they may be the leftover team and not Missouri, who could end up with the Big 10.
It sure is a shame that the original Big 8 schools of Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are going to be broken up. I wish this was not happening. It seems like the Big 12 did not address this soon enough.
I know. It looks like Nebraska had to act quickly to avoid being left out. Big Ten and Pac Ten wrestling will sure have a new look! Our road trips just got a lot longer too!
I do not think Nebraska liked the Big 12 setup from the very start. One of the things they were very upset with from the start was the breakup of the annual NU-OU game. It is not surprising that NU is moving but I am very disappointed to see the old Big 8 schools broken up.

One thing you wonder is if the Big Ten would insist a school like KU would need to have a wrestling team to become a member. I have not heard that the Big Ten is interested in KU but it seems like they should end up in a major conference after all is said and done.

As far as road trips, it might be affordable for the football and basketball teams but you have to wonder if this will cause a lot of problems for the other sports that do not generate as much revenue in these projected super conferences. It seems like it would be a very heavy burden on their budgets.
This article is from the Omaha World Herald and it provides some interesting information as to what led up to Nebraska's decision to leave the Big 12 for the Big 10 yesterday.

I think he main reason Osborne wanted out is he could never compete with the run and gun. He can go to the big ten and they can go back to their run game. If you don't have the personnel to compete you need to run. My two cents..Sooner Fan
