We were wondering if anyone is go or has been to Missouri for the USGWA State Championships Open. We were thinking about taking our daughter and were just looking for any feedback to decide if it would be worth the trip.
Karissa will be there in the Elem. Div probably 79lb. We are stopping at this tournament on our way to the one in Iowa on that Sunday. I hope the drive is worth it.
The last time that we went to a Missouri USGWA they ran a bullpen format. I absolutely hated it. Basically they paired the girls in a locker room and called them when a mat freed up. That was 2 years ago, thought and at a different school than this one. Hope you have better luck!
Thanks for the input. Lexi will wrestle at 8u 52 or 55 hoping to see some girls in that group at Ellsworth. Good Luck to everyone who attends!
Prairie Fire has a 8u 52lb and a 8u 55 lb going to Ellsworth. It will be great if Lexi can make it to the midwest regionals in Lawrence on 2/20/05. the web site is

Missouri poses a few extra challenges due to the location, day of the week, and time. A Friday event in Bolivar will require most wrestlers, family members and coaches to miss school and/or work to attend. I am curious to see how many out-of-state wrestlers participate in this March 4 event in Bolivar. With USGWA Feb 27 in Kanopolis and USAW March 13 in Ellsworth and events March 5th in Wymore, NE and Fort Lupton, CO I would imagine that many people will question going to Missouri this year.
Good luck to all of you still planning to attend. Wrestle hard and bring home the hardware.

We would like to take Lexi to more tournaments like the midwest regionals, however we will be in Stafford saturday with her and her 3 brothers who also wrestle. So it is hard to get her to Suday tournaments. I wish there would be an good way to include girls brackets on Saturday tournaments. However I also think it is good for Lexi to wrestle the boys, she gets more mat time that way, and she does a pretty good job of holding her own with them, some of them are pretty tough!
Yea we are thinking about just driving to Neb. friday after school and skipping Mo.
Don't forget the Showcase Tournament at Missouri Valley.
Looks like it will be a great weekend of Freestyle wrestling. Don't miss the chance to wrestle in this event, there will be good competition in all divisions.
This is a USAW Event.
