Beau Tillman is the head coach of KSU's club team. He is considering adding a women's wrestling team for 2008/09 season.

Women who participate will compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association under folkstyle rules.

If you are interested in wrestling for KSU please contact him at tillmanbeau@yahoo.com. Even if you are not attending KSU and want to participate, you should contact him.

There are no folkstyle women's teams at the college division. Would the girls that wrestle be wrestling in men's tournaments?

The National Collegiate Wrestling Association is working on adding a lot of girls teams.
Right, I just know it's been talked about for several years now. I was wondering if they are going to add multiple teams this coming year? If there are going to be other schools adding program what are they?
Here are 5 that I know of with programs already.
Pacific University
San Jose State University
Simon Fraser University British Columbia
Stony Brook University
University of California-Santa Barbara

check out the web-site, there is a link to the women's site at the bottom.

Chairman to Kick-Start New Memberships

DALLAS, TX.
The Chairman of the NCWA Women's Division, Tabitha Wilson, has announced a plan to Kick-start Membership in the New Division ( http://www.ncwwa.net ). The NCWA will Waive the \$150 Annual Member Fee for New Women's Teams that register between November 15th and January 1st " Our goal is to have at least 20 Teams Competing for a National Title in Florida this coming March" said Wilson, "and I believe this initiative will boost enrollment." Most teams are just starting and only have 5 to 7 athletes and seem unsure if their joining the NCWA will be beneficial if there are no other teams. "It's kind of which comes first, The Chicken or the Egg. Each team seems to be waiting to see who will join first." This Fee Waiver offers a No Risk Option to get a new team going.
To take advantage of this offer to Join the NCWA Call Executive Director Jim Giunta 214-378-8700 x 107 and request a New Member Application. Complete the application before Jan 1, 2008 and Fax back to the number on the application. Be Sure to write " FEE WAIVED" on the Payment Method Amount Line.
From what I read on the pages of the NCWA is slating for the womens division to compete in two-three months at the NCWA Men's national tournament. I do not know that that is the most logical thing to do. They just adopted the division in June and are now going to hold a national tournament.

I am looking forward to see how it goes, and hope the best for it. I on the other hand am cautious because I do not think it will be good for the freestyle college teams or for the NCWA to have two seperate styles available. All this is going to do is cause the high school girls to decide whether they would like to compete folkstyle or freestyle. This is going to split your competition. My hope is that the addition of this division does not hinder the growth of womens college wrestling in both divisions.
