Junior /Cadet Coaches Pass Policy

Sign up for pass list for Bronze Certified Coaches attending the ASICS/Vaughan Junior/Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

USA Wrestling
05/04/2006

Following a new policy for admission into the Championships at the FargoDome in July, any coach that wishes to attend and gain free entrance with their Bronze Certification and USA Wrestling Coach Membership must pre-register.

Certified Coaches can gain free admission to the Championships in Fargo, the last week of July, but they must email notification to Ted Witulski, NCEP Manager, at twitulski@usawrestling.org by June 7th. After the deadline of June 7th the pass list will be set for the local organizers, no additions will be permitted.

Any coach that is part of a state delegation does NOT have to email in their prior notification. State coach delegations will be credentialed through the regular process.

If you plan on attending as a spectator-coach, email twitulski@usawrestling.org right away to assure your name is included on the pass list for the Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.

I would guess there is a reason behind this new policy, can anyone tell me what that reason might be?

Too many coaches on the floor. Each team has a staff to coach their National Team. When a coach or coaches, who have not been selected by their state as Team Coaches, just expect to be on the floor there is a lot of chaos. The floor is where you interact, everyone wants to be down there for someone they know... but they generally stay and watch other kids from their state or just really good matches. As a coach, I can tell you that there is no place for watching a match than being right there.

But Bronze Certification, why a very imporatant and noble certification, is very easy to obtain. It does not, however, always mean that each state team wants these guys down there on the floor talking to the kids directly before and after matches. At Fargo there are so many people that want to be recognized... and most of them aren't the wrestlers.

Kids need to have their coaches identified to them. It is a huge reason why the training camp is essential prior to going to Nationals. But the biggest advantage a kid has by having new faces in the corner is that he/she may be weened a bit from the familiar faces and get ready to eventually move on. It is generally the person who thinks they are the reason the kid is so amazing who also needs weened.

It looks like a pretty good rule.
