FHSU signs Kansas wrestlers Bryce Bahe and Dylan Loyd will join the Tiger Wrestling program. Bahe will join the Tiger wrestling squad as a transfer at the start of the spring of 2006 semester and Loyd is currently a senior at St. Francis High School in St. Francis, Kan. Bahe comes to Fort Hays State from Minnesota State-Mankato and will likely compete for a starting job at the 141-pound weight class this season.
Bahe is familiar to this area as he was an all-american at Goodland High School in Goodland, Kan. Bahe finished high school with a career record of 114-23. He was a four-time state medalist in high school with two second place finishes and a third and sixth place finish to his credit at the state championships. He finished eighth at national high school tournament during his senior year. His father, Randy, is the head coach of wrestling at Goodland High School.
Loyd, currently a senior at St. Francis High School, has a career record of 99-17 in high school going into this year. He is a three-time state medalist, with a second-place and two third-place finishes at the state championships to his credit. He has wrestled at the 112 and 125-pound weight classes in high school and could possibly wrestle at 130 pounds this season. Loyd's projected weight class at Fort Hays State will be either 125 or 133. Loyd is the senior class president at St. Francis and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He currently has a 3.75 GPA. He plans to major in athletic training at FHSU.
"Bryce will come in and immediately make our lineup stronger at the lighter weights in January," said head coach Cody Bickley. "Dylan Loyd comes from a great family and is one of the top wrestlers in western Kansas this year. We look forward to having him in our program next year."
