UNI Wrestling Adds Junior College Signee
Panther head coach Brad Penrith announced the addition of 133-pounder Josh Baldridge
University of Northern Iowa head wrestling coach Brad Penrith today announced the signing of junior college transfer Josh Baldridge to wrestle for the Panthers in 2007-08.
Baldridge comes to UNI after wrestling the past two seasons at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. At Labette, Baldridge was a two-time junior college All-American, as he placed fourth (2006) and second (2007) in the nation.
Baldridge, who will wrestle at 133 pounds for the Panthers, was a four-time state high school champion at Campus High School in Haysville, Kan. He tallied a 143-5 record as a prep wrestler, and was undefeated as both a junior and senior. He also was selected the Kansas 5A Wrestler of the Year in 2005. As a senior in 2005, he was ranked No. 5 in the nation by InterMat at 130 pounds. He also was a Brute Adidas national champion in 2004 and placed third at Senior Nationals in 2005.
The 2007 UNI wrestling recruiting class was recently recognized as the No. 9-ranked recruiting class in the nation by InterMat.
