Thought I would pass on an article from the KC Star about Joe.

Mr. Johnston,

Joe ran an outstanding camp. My son is going to be a high school senior this year and he was in the high school camp that the article refers to. My son felt this was one of the best camps that he has ever attended. Joe did an outstanding job of teaching these young wrestlers the value of hard work and training. He showed them what conditioning means at the college level. He made himself available to answer questions that the young wrestlers had about what is like to wrestle in college. They also learned some very valuable new skills from an accomplished former Division I finalist and two time All American. They learned from one of the all time greats in Kansas wrestling history.

Coach Westphal was correct when he said that Joe Johnston would be an excellent choice to lead a college wrestling program. Missouri has made a good choice in hiring Joe. I wish him the best of luck with his new position.

Thanks Vince. The article did not mention that Joe will be working on his Master's degree in Sports Psychology and that coaching a Division 1 program is his ultimate dream.

I first thought after reading the article that maybe Joe was going to focus on sports administration for his future career. It is good to hear that he intends to become a NCAA D-1 college coach in the the future. He would be a very good one. I hope that maybe someday that opportunity could open up for him at WSU, KSU or KU. I wish him the best of luck in his new position at MU and pursuit of his masters in sports psychology this year.
