heres my question.

what are some of the things we hear for some of the rules at these tournamens? heres a few. ONLY COACHES AND WRESTLERS MATSIDE!!! NO CAMERAS OR CAMCORDERS ON GYM FLOOR PLEASE RECORD FROM THE STANDS!!! NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE GYM!!! PLEASE NO STANDING IN THE BLEACHERS SO ALL CAN VIEW THE WRESTLING!!!

NOW HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU LOOK AT THE MATS AND SEE. BROTHERS,SISTERS, UNCLE, AUNTS, 34RD,4TH,5TH COUSINS, FRIENDS AND DOGS AND CATS I MEAN THE ENTIRE CLAN. OR AS SOON AS THEY ANNOUNCE NO CAMCORDERS ON GYM FLOOR YOU LOOK DOWN GUESS WHAT THERE IS SOMEONE NEXT TO THE MAT RECORDING.

NO FOOD OR DRINKS, HECK LOOK OVER THERE IS SOME ONE WITH MCDONALDS. NO STANDING, YOU'LL HAVE A SELECT FEW PEOPLE WHO WILL JUST STAND THERE AND BLOCK EVERYONES VIEW. LIKES IT'S THERE OWN PERSONAL THEATER.

NOW IF THEY STARTED EJECTING PEOPLE FOR NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES THEY SET WOULD IT HELP I MEAN YOU GET EJECTED OUT OF ENOUGH TOURNAMENTS YOU ARE GOING TO LISTEN OR STAY HOME RIGHT OR WRONG MAKES SENSE.

AND YES I HAVE BEEN GUILTY OF A FEW OF THESE VIOLATIONS MYSELF AND I PROBALY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED TO LEAVE FOR NOT FOLLOWING THERE RULES THE SET.

Do they really have places that won't allow taping???? It is hard to tape from the stands when the mats are set up the way they are and having everyone like you said down at mat side- We want to tape for teaching purposes- I think as long as you tape your match and get out of there it should be allowed- most of the time we are on the other side away from the table and the coaches- is that so wrong?

I know I am right there with my son when he wrestles. There is usually one coach and me. I am not as close as the coach is, but I'm a few feet from the mat on my knees or my butt recording his match. It's a great tool to look at once he is in the stands between matches or at home that night. We can see what he did or didn't do when he was on the mat. But it does seem like everyone stands up in front of the stands though. I think that is why I go down below to record so I can actually film my son and not the back of somebody's head.

i am not saying taping from the floor is wrong i would rather have my wife tape from the floor. but if they ask people not to do it is it wrong to do it. is it just me or has any one else noticed every year more people get ruder and think these tournaments are for there sole purpose. not saying all but there are some very rude people at some of these tournaments.

Why not have tourney start setting up Taping areas and if you want to taep your kid or team mates then you need to purchace a pass for a small fee. Not only will it bring in extra money to the club but it would allow parents/coaches to tape the matches while keeping the tapers in a controlled area. Shoot the hosting clubs could have an ADULT checking for these passes and thus elimating a lot of problems.

Rule 2-2-2
The safety mat area defined in modified Rule 2-1-2 must be kept clear at all times, except for two coaches per wrestler.

So taping from the edge of the mat is not allowed and I would enforce this issue. Ive seen it first hand were a wrestler has falling into a video camera and cut his eye bad enough that he could not continue the match and he needed to get stitches.

Well, I am one of those mother's that is not afraid to ask someone standing up in front of me to please sit so I can video my child on the mat. Of course, I am also the mother that never goes to the mat to video, I am usually on the highest point in the gym that I can get.
To solve the problem---I have been to a few tournaments that will stop all action and announce that they will not begin until people are away from the mats and up in the stands. Yes, it adds to the length of the day, but it also called common courtesy to abide by the rules set by the state and the host tournament site.
I know if offends people to ask them to sit down, but I only do it when my child is on the mat and would not have issues if someone asked me to do the same.
Just a suggestion on the stopping of action, but it does get their attention when it is done.

warm up mats by the mat would be great. I have yet to see those in place at any tournament with kids using them. I have seen coaches, parents refs standing there blocking the view though. I really like it when someone yells at them to sit down and they turn and look at you like shut up and continue to stand there. Those are the ones that need to be removed from the gym. I sat on my butt at the Derby tournament while the kid was trying to warm up behind the tables watching alot of people just standing there and not getting down so others could see. Proper warm up is very important and usually not available around the mats for the kids to warm up. Maybe I am not looking close enough if there have been.

I know that sometimes when my kids are trying to warm up I usually have to tell them to watch out or they end up hitting someone when working a move or something then the ppl look at your kid like they ment to..Wrestling tournaments are exciting for all the parents coaches wrestlers and specatators..I do go close to matside when my kids wrestle but i sit on my butt on take a knee and if they ask I stay behind the tape or rope or whatever they may have..At the tournaments where I cant go matside I am usually as close as I can be and where my kids can see me especially my son he will search for me if he dont know where I am to make sure I am watching and close by we learned that the hard way at State 2 years ago..But as soon as my kids are done I get them from their coach and move out of the way back to my seat or where I am not in anyones way..That is also because I dont want them to get lost or lose track of them the oldest is only 8 and well its sad to say but in this world you would like to think its safe but you can never be to sure no matter where you are..This year my kids dad got a coaches card just so one of us can be matside with the kids at all times to ensure the saftey of our kids and to give tournaments the respect they need to be ran safley my favorites are the ones that get ran over by the ref when the kids are on the edge of the mat and the ref runs over and lays on ground to watch back points and the possible pin and they have to hurry and jump out of way or be ran over or sat on now that is a moment that needs to be filmed lol
