Luedke seems to be turning the corner in Freestyle. Like him or not...he is starting to make some noise on the international scene.

VARNA, Bulgaria – Bryce Hasseman (Iowa City, Iowa/New York AC) won a gold medal at 84 kg/185 lbs., one of three U.S. freestyle wrestlers to win a medal on the final day of the Dan Kolov International on Sunday.
Hasseman defeated U.S. teammate Eric Luedke (Iowa City, Iowa/Gator WC) in the gold-medal finals, 1-0, 3-3, 3-0.
It was the second straight week that Hasseman defeated Luedke in the finals of an international tournament. Hasseman won a 0-1, 1-0, 3-0 decision over Luedke in the finals of the Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado Springs, Colo. last weekend.
Both U.S. wrestlers won three matches to qualify for the finals. Hasseman stopped Serdar Boke of Turkey in the semifinals, 2-1, 2-2, while Luedke beat Adrian Recorean of Romania in the semifinals, 2-0, 2-1.
The other U.S. medalist was 2008 University World champion Tervel Dlagnev (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Sunkist Kids), who won a silver medal at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
Dlagnev won his first two matches handily, scoring a technical fall over Bincho Stoyanov of Bulgaria, 6-0, 6-0 in his first match, then dispatching Francesco Miano Petta of Italy in the semifinals, 1-0, 8-0. In the gold-medal match, he was edged by two-time Olympian Bozhidar Boyadzhiev of Bulgaria, 1-3, 1-0, 0-1.
Dlagnev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and moved to the United States when he was four years old.
"Our guys are tough and compete hard,” said Assistant National Freestyle Coach Bill Zadick. “We need to improve in a few areas, mat savvy, wrestling hard on the edge of the mat, and being stubborn. We must be stubborn in what we're going after and stubborn about giving up cheap points. I see a lot of good things and look forward to what's ahead for our country!"
The U.S. won four medals during the two-day tournament. Capturing a silver medal on Saturday at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. was Mike Tamillow (Colorado Springs, Colo./unattached).
Also competing on Sunday were three U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers in the Nikola Petrov International, the Greco-Roman tournament held alongside the Dan Kolov International. All three U.S. entries fell short of the medal rounds, and the U.S. did not win a Greco-Roman medal during the weekend.
Cheney Haight (Orem, Utah/New York AC), placed seventh at 74 kg/163 lbs. with a 1-2 record, and Andrew Bisek (Chaska, Minn./Minnesota Storm) placed ninth at 74 kg/163 lbs. with a 1-1 record.

Luedke made some controversial posts in the past that roused some ire amongst several posters.

Eric is a stand up guy, who loves Kansas, and Kansas wrestling. Like many of us, he is passionate and not afraid to let his opinions be known, even when some disagree with him. Personally I respect that. I wish him the very best in his future pursuits, as do I know many others in Kansas. I can't say that I know Eric in any way, but I can say, I respect and appreciate his honesty and boldness both on the mat, and on these forums.

I also agree and happened to agree with some of those controversial opinions. He has been wrestling very well lately and many questioned his abilities after those posts. I don't think anyone wants to stir this pot again and that was not my intention. I wanted to point out that he is getting better from hard work and shooting for the top... and making a name for himself in the process.
