I was Wondering what former kansans qualified for there respective national tournaments... I will fill in what I know

Just a little side note, it has been PRETTY exciting watching that Carrilo wrestle the last few weekends... He wrestled my teammate Hutch, at Gpacs and it was a bogusly called match till hutch pinned him.... then at regions he took hutch though he was real sick.... but he is quite an explosive wrestler.

Good Luck to all

It sounds like he has gotten a lot stronger since his high school days. Isn't he also the champion of some MMA organization?

As best as I recall the following have qualified through their respective placement at a qualifying tournament.

133 lbs. - Tristen DeShazer - Wichita West High School - Northern Illinois University

157 lbs. - Neil Erisman - DeSoto High School - Oklahoma State University

197 lbs. - Jesse Strawn - Holton High School - Old Dominion University

The at-large qualifiers will be announced today and MAY include Jordan Keller - Bishop Carroll Catholic High School - Cleveland State and Scott Elliott - Ark City High School - South Dakota State.

I seriously doubt that the at-large bids will go to Keller or Elliott based off of the finish they took in their regions. Brett Bahe of Northern Colorado may have an outside chance though after taking second in the Western Regional.

Congrats to the 3 NCAA qualifiers from Kansas.
I noticed no other wrestlers from Kansas got an at large bid.
Deshazer is progressing well and Strawn and Erisman are ranked so they should have a good shot at All American.

But, I do think three is a little disapointing. Thats less than 1% of the total wrestlers that qualify. Kansas has some quality wrestling, but we're not putting out many D1 wrestlers.

I know not having the D1 school in state hurts, but could Kansas develop more D1 wrestleers.

I am assuming that you are wondering if Kansas can get more NCAA D1 qualifiers and placers. I think in the next few years you will see that start to happen. Besides the ones already mentioned on this topic you have several wrestlers like the Keller brothers, Tanenbaum, Koehn, Disney, Cotton, Andrus, and Bach who are freshmen or redshirt freshmen this year all who have an excellent chance of becoming D-1 qualifiers/placers in the next few years. D-1 recruits from the current senior class like Caldwell, Beard, Napier and Detmer are also excellent candidates to become D-1 qualifiers/placers in the next few years. I am sure that I have not mentioned all of the current freshmen and current year D1 recruits who have this sort of potential. My basic point is that I think you are definitely going to start seeing some more Kansas names performing well in D-1 in the next few years.
