Why don’t you release the wrestlers list so we can see if we will have anyone to wrestle? I don’t want to travel to Topeka if there is no compaction or anyone to wrestle. I think a lot of other people feel the same way. It may even bring up your numbers

While that would be ideal, is this what we do for other tournaments? Do we call ahead and ask if there will be anyone to wrestle before deciding to attend? I can't think of a single instance in middle school or high school that this has been the case. I understand not wanting to travel great distances to find out that there isn't any competition, but that isn't what our sport is about.

When Paola and Rossville had their tournaments on the same Saturday last year, I was upset, in the past we had gone to both tournaments. Both have always been well ran with good competition. I wanted to pick the one with the best competition. Since Paola released their list of participants from the beginning, I picked Paola. I like it when a tournament releases this information from the beginning and will make choices based upon this. I believe the main reason most tournaments do not release their participants early, is for fear no one will come. Best to be honest from the start. Just my beliefs.

John, I understand what you are saying. However, this year we utilized Madison style bracketing for the games. This took some of the pressure off of the kids during the summer months to make a stratch weight. We did not even ask for a weight class on the registration forms. We bracketed the tourneys based on a percentage of body weight within the age classification. So it would have been hard to get the information you are looking for prior to weigh-ins.

Another new wrinkle we implemented this year at the SSG is we chose to utilize a new module created by Trackwrestling that allowed for “live” bout entry at each table! It went off without a hitch. No paper bouts…no waiting on data entry…the tourney ran smooth from the opening whistle to the final match. This new module will create some extra IT related challenges for tournaments, but it is definitely the way to go if you have the IT resources necessary.

This is a fun event that we hope can continue to improve. Thanks.

The competition wasn't great but it was a fun tourney and at least you know that the kids that were there just wanted to wrestle and improve so congrats to everyone that showed up to make themselves better. We had a good time and will go back next year. Thanks for giving the kids somewhere to wrestle in the summer

I agree with bob miller we had a good time on sat, sunday could have been better, but it wasnt because of the tourny, just most of the kids that were there saturday didnt come back on sunday. It was a good time for my son to try out some of the new things he learned at camp. thanks for a neat little event.
