Hi, my name is Taylor Medlin. I wrestled in Kansas until age 16 as a heavyweight at Olathe North. Then I moved to Florida where I wrestled a season and then Georgia for a season. After my senior year, I was torn by the choice that a lot of heavyweight wrestlers are, football or wrestling? I chose to play ball at Georgia Southern University....ironically, the wrong choice. After losing so much weight that I could no longer play football, I conceded to parental pressures and packed my bags and headed for KU. This brings me to my point of introduction, I really miss the feel of not just the mat, but athletics. So, I'm taking it upon myself to try and reform the University of Kansas's wrestling club. Now, I just need help. I was hoping to get in contact with some old Kansas vets who would be able to guide me through the process a little, in addition to our greatest need, which is wrestlers of course. So far, I've managed to find one other student who is willing to join us, so if anyone knows former Kansas wrestlers looking to get back in to the action, pass their names along. I'm also looking for insight from coaches as how to run a legitimate programs (ie, fundrasing, tournament scheduling, etc). If anyone has information, advice, ideas, names of people to look up, etc. I would greatly appreciate any help.

My contact info is as follows:

Phone number: 913-827-7367 (feel free to call or text anytime)
Email: Jurgaboy1@gmail.com

Once again, thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully add to our experience here at the university.

The last year that the University of Kansas wrestling club was in existence there were two volunteer wrestling coaches who worked with the team that year. Klint Deere is one of those coaches and he may be able to help you out. I will contact Klint and see if he can help you. I will also try to contact a couple of ex wrestlers from the Aquinas team who are at KU and see if they have any interest in getting involved with you in resurrecting this team. I wish you the best of luck. I really hope you are successful in getting it started again.

more than willing to help in any way possible. KU is clear that the club has to be student intiated. There will also be some pretty strict deadlines and stuff with the NWCA registration etc. PM me anytime or email coachklint@yahoo.com and we can get the ball rolling.
