#15 Tigers Defeat Orediggers for Seventh Straight Win

The Fort Hays State wrestling squad continued on their winning way with a victory over Colorado Mines Saturday night (Feb. 6) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers were victorious by a final score of 35-12.
The dual started off at 125 pounds with a forfeit win for the Tigers No. 4 Tommy Edgmon. Travis Kuhn followed that up with a fall over Kyle McMinn at 133 pounds to increase the lead to 12-0 in favor of the Tigers. A pair of major decisions followed, as Aldon Isenberg defeated Jesse Snider 13-2 and Levi Younkin downed Mick Ramsey by a score of 8-0.
A pair of ranked Tigers continued the winning ways, as No. 4 Danny Grater at 157 pounds pinned Ryan Sprackling and No. 7 Blake Malloy at 165 pounds had to go to a second overtime to defeat Jordan Larsen. The Tigers lost by forfeit at 174 pounds and Ryan Swanson of Colorado Mines was the victor.
The Tigers posted two more victories, as Chance Rencountre defeated Bradley Price and Steven Kyler downed Brennen Knerr, both by decisions. The dual ended with a Bryan Stansbury fall over the Tigers Justin Glenn to bring the final score of the dual to 35-12.
With the victory, the Tigers improve to 8-3 on the year and remain atop the RMAC standings with a 6-0 conference record. The Orediggers drop to 6-5 for the year and are now 3-3 in the RMAC. The Tigers next action comes this Friday (Feb. 12) as they take on Chadron State in a home dual starting at 7 p.m.
