Received from the AD collecting enrollment numbers; as result of schools sending in updates or corrected enrollment information:
"Bonner Springs and Highland Park both have 532. Since Bonner had a lower enrollment last year, they would move down to 4A.
Some of the earlier projections changed today due to new information:
6A - Blue Valley High down to 5A. Hutchinson up to 6A (I received word from Aquinas that I had their 9-12 enrollment instead of 10-12)
5A - KC Schlagle dropped 96 kids and will move down to 4A and Winfield will be 4A. Valley Center & Blue Valley SW up to 5A
4A - Scott City, Silver Lake, Pleasant Ridge down to 3A Wichita Collegiate & TMP up to 4A
3A - Cimarron, Northern Heights, Ellinwood down to 2A Hutch Trinity & Uniontown up to 3A. (Uniontown leapfrogged Nemaha Valley this morning)
2A - Lots of changes down here and a lot of information that I do not have, but right now it looks like Lincoln, Ness City, Pratt-Skyline up to 2A. Stockton, Goessel will be down to 1A. Lots of 'maybes" here though."

Thanks for the updates and possibilities. I understand it is "unoffical" but does give food for thought.
Are the numbers taken from the students enrolled on Monday or the students enrolled and in attendance that day?
If the latter one sick student could make a big difference for Bonner Springs.

These are NOT offical numbers I have reported. First of all, they were not collected by the KSHSAA, but rather an A.D. Secondly, I don't beleive he had 100% response from all schools so some of the enrollment numbers are last years.
The KSHSAA will release the OFFICIAL classifications on Monday.
Sept. 20 is the official count date but there is a window, basically, the day before and after for students who are not in school on the exact day.
Enrollment numbers are collected on the 20th and sent to the KSHSAA but there is some correcting that goes on for a few days; that is one reason the numbers and classifications are held for a week. For example, a student might be counted on the 20th who was not in attendance but the school is certain would be in attendance on the 21st. BUT. . .the student unexpectedly transfers schools on the 21st. Since they were not in school on the 20th and withdrew on the 21st they could not be counted and a change would (should) be made.
A few years back there was a major mistake made by a school in the numbers they sent to the KSHSAA and the mistake was not caught until AFTER the classifications were announced! Caused a mess for a couple of schools who had to move down and up.

Mr. Mann: Kindly correct me if I am mistaken however the enrollment numbers are not sent by the schools to the KSHSAA but are sent to the Kansas State Department of Education. The enrollment head count, as of September 20, is utilized to determine federal and state funding. The actual window for submission of this data this year is September 20 to Ocotber 11, 2010. The enrollment numbers are released by the KSDE to KSHSAA for determination of the classifications. The incentive for school districts to provide an accurate head count is the per pupil remuneration received from state (taxpayer) and federal (taxpayer) governmental units.

Richard, you are wrong.
Enrollment (head count only) numbers are SENT TO THE KSHSAA by the individual schools on Sept. 20 for purposes of determining classification. What is sent to the KSHSAA is only the head count enrollment in grades 10-12 for purposes of annual classifications; and in the odd years, enrollment in grades 9-11 for purposes of determining football classifications and districts for the succeeding two years.
Enrollment in grades Pre-K programs(if districts have, K, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and adult learning centers (again, if districts have) are sent to the KSDE via the SO-66 which is due to the KSDE this year on October 11, but is based on the count of Sept. 20 (and in the case of Learning Centers,a second count date on the first Monday in October). This is reported on the SO-66 in both head count and FTE.
The numbers used for classification by the KSHSAA ARE NOT released by the KSDE to the KSHSAA. The KSHSAA releases classifications on September 27 this year, but, the enrollment numbers are not even due to the KSDE until October 11.
