As I was looking through the proposed amendments for the meeting there was a lot to consider. The forum is currently buzzing about a few of them and there is one that I hope won’t be out shined by all the 6U debate. That is the proposal to allow heavy weights that are over the max weight of their weight class to wrestle up one age division. I have been on here for a few years trying to find a way to help keep the big guys wrestling. I always got so upset that they (USA Wrestling, clubs and a lot of tournaments) would take their money throughout the season but when it came down to the most important time of the year these guys were left in the stands.
We have seen OW wrestlers from some of the toughest national tournaments in the country left at home because our system said they were too big to wrestle. That is a shame to say the least! Is this the very best or fairest way to resolve the issue we currently have that is holding these wrestlers back? I would probably do it different but at least we are moving forward. I hope we will see this pass and give these guys a fighting chance. Let them have something to work towards and to get excited about.
This should be a good meeting! A lot of change is on the table... The correct changes can really help keep this sport moving forward. Times are changing and we need to keep up with it to keep this sport thriving!

I find nothing in any of the proposed amendments that should cause a lot of debate. I would hope they are all passed and without much discussion.

It should only effect the 8U, 10U and 12U groups. If the 6U championship proposal passes they would not be allowed to wrestle up by rule and the 14U is already allowed to wrestle up to the high school division.

THere is not a heavier wt class in 8U than 6U so the rule does not apply. The proposal is using the 8U weight classes plus 37.
