This is an invitation to the two Bishop Coaches that were belittling my son at the Derby tournament. You might want to make sure the child is not standing beside you when talking poorly of them. If you have any concerns about what weight class he will be wrestling in, or would like to schedule an exhibition match, please contact me. Jake will point you out to me at the next tournament and you can expect me to approach you for an apology to Jacob. If you would like to discuss this before then you can contact me at 620-441-8048.

I agree with everything that you ahve to say. This kind of talk was not taught at the Bronze clinic I went to. Bishop Carrol is a Catholic sponsered program isn't it? Would the church approve of this?

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School does not sponsor the kids wrestling program. Bishop Carroll Catholic High School does allow the youth program access to the facility. Not all participants or coaches with the youth program are Catholic, and it is not a requirement of the club. I do not believe any church or youth program approves of trash talking an opponent.

As I am sure we can all agree, adults from time to time exhibit boorish behavior and I do hope the involved individuals will contact Coach Beeson and offer an apology.

Disclaimer: Richard is Catholic, however Richard is not and has never been associated with Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

Funny thing along the same lines, I was looking over the brackets and of course I was about two people deep. The kid point to my sons match and his Dad says "don't worry he sucks, you can take him"

First I had to laugh, eventhough I knew nothing of this kid, maybe he could take mine, but I don't think he knew us either.

As he turned around to leave, I just said very nicely, "good luck, your going to need it"

He seen my shirt and turned a little white and left.

My son won the match and no other issues.

I think it was all a confidence thing or positive re-inforcement, but you have to chose your words wisely. Even more when you are in a crowd.

I had to laugh about it.

First of all I would like to apologize the Carroll Jr. Wrestling Club. I did not intend for this post to shed negative light on the club. The Carroll Jr. Wrestling club has always been a top notch club in my opinion. I have received phone calls from Dave Goodsell and Jess Keith concerning this incident. They were both concerned about what happened. Class Acts.

I know that as Coaches, we sometimes say things in the heat of battle or while trying to pump a wrestler up that we shouldn't. We are all human, and make mistakes. When we do we need to man up and apologize for them and try not to repeat the mistake. I made a mistake by making this public instead of contacting Jess or Dave. For that I am sorry. I know this will be handled appropriately and for that I thank you.

As most know I can be hot headed, I will try to do better.
