Invitations have been sent out to Seniors. I encourage any and all underclassmen who are serious about post high school wrestling to make every attempt to make it to this event. Especially juniors! There will be more college coaches at this tournament than any other tournament you can attend.

Who is interested or planning on going in the junior/sophomore/freshman divisions?

We are planning on taking Spencer.

Kansas has had some non qualifiers do well in the past. If someone were to not qualify by making the finals, what is the process of petitioning in for the senior bracket?

Ed, Jake is talking about going - trying to make his mind up between this and Reno.

NHSCA Nationals Information: http://nhsca.com/events.cfm

They have divisions for FR, SO, JR, and SR. The dates are different for each class.

wrestling scholastic career.

*CA will qualify the top 8 in their state
*Placed in the following NHSCA Events during Freshman thru Junior year:
*Top 4 at the NHSCA National Open
*Top 8 at the NHSCA Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior Nationals
*If you do not meet any of the criteria listed above, you will need to petition
for a wild card - email nhsca@nhsca.com.

Entry/Insurance Fee:

$45 – No additional wrestling cards are needed.
NOTE: Entry fee will only be refunded with a doctor's note.

I think this may be the year where a bunch of Kansas kids could petition. This Senior class had several individuals that were multi time placers, but just could never crack the finals!

Bottom line for this tournament money talks. Petition and you most likley get in. Not sure about this year but last year there was another National Event competing with this event which caused the entries to be down. As such they were pretty much taking all comers. If Flo Nats are the same weekend this year, I would expect Senior Nats are again taking all comers.

I know there are a few of you planning to get to Va Beach on your own and our handling all the entries etc by yourself!

I would ask you to give Chuck Elvin a call! There are a few things the "team" gets that if you do things completely independent, that you won't get!! I know many of you have plenty of singlets and may not want ours. There is also a team picture taken and everyone in wearing the same thing ... looks sharp!!

The picture are presented to team Seniors, in an award ceremony, on a nice plaque ... parents love these!! We also have team t-shirts!

In the past, I have known of a few Kansan's that went things alone ... there is an advantage to being part of a team that they don't get!!

Let's have ALL Kansas Senior wrestlers be part of Team Kansas!! Call Chuck ... 913-888-8630.

Randy,

Does this apply to Seniors only? Do the other classes have any singlets or coaching available?

Thanks,

You can contact the Elvin's for the possibility of singlets!

A few coached will be arriving with the Seniors on Wednesday and I am sure they will willing help!

I do beleive a few are going out early, so try to hook up with them!!

I know for the Senior portion, they have "orphan" coaches ... I would think they have them for the other segements!!

If you go on your own, you will miss a great deal. The Kansas team, put together by Chuck, Cherie, Randy, and Kathy, is the way to go. You may be able to piece it together a little cheaper, but the team Kansas is an experience. What little that you save by planning your own trip is not worth it.

I suggest all wrestlers going to nationals seriously consider going as Team Kansas. The tournament didn't keep team scores way back in the day when I went, but we still went as a team, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Go make Kansas Proud.

This an interesting link. I didn't look around real hard for an updated version, but this is good history! It's a pretty tough tournament if a future Olympic Champion comes in 7th.

Just want to say Thanks to Cheri and Chuck for being helpful and ready to take on another wrestler! Drake was accepted as a wild card and will be going to the Sr Nationals as part of Team Kansas! Wish him luck...and thanks again! And to Randy to sending me the original information.
