Just saw the UNO write-up and wanted to share kudos to Trent Cox:

Trent Cox is one of 10 Maverick wrestlers to move on to the semifinals after Friday's opening sessions at the NCAA Super Region 2 Tournament.

FINDLAY, Ohio - All ten UNO wrestlers advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Super Region 2 Tournament on Friday, as the No. 1 Mavs claimed the early lead in the team race.

The ten Maverick wrestlers combined to go 17-0 on the day, as UNO scored 80 team points. Ashland is second at 63, while Central Oklahoma is third with 50.5 points.

The Mavs' three top-ranked wrestlers,Mario Morgan (141), Esai Dominguez(149) and George Ivanov (157) all cruised into their semifinal matches with dominating wins. No. 3 Ryan Pankoke (174) had no problems recording two pins, and neither did No. 3 Aaron Denson (184) in earning a technical fall and a fall. No. 4 Matt Baker earned a major decision to move on to the semis as well.

UNO got a big boost from all five of its unranked wrestlers reaching the semifinals. Josh Keszler went 2-0 on Friday at 125 pounds with 4-3 and 6-4 decisions. Keszler is now 5-0 since moving to 125 pounds two weeks ago.

At 133 pounds, Trent Cox earned perhaps the biggest victory of the day for UNO when he defeated Central Missouri's Cody Gillenwater 6-5 in the quarterfinals. Gillenwater had beaten Cox 10-3 at the MIAA Duals on Feb. 13.

"I think the Augustana match is where Trent kind of turned the corner a little bit," Head Coach Mike Denney said. "He's really got his weight managed right now. I think he's feeling a lot better. We're really pleased with how Trent is doing."

Nathan Sigman moved on to the semis at 165 pounds with a 10-3 quarterfinal decision over Michael DiPierro of Limestone. Sigman will face No. 3 Michael Lybarger of Findlay on Saturday.

"He has really been coming on," Denney said. "I keep saying people better tighten up their head gear when they wrestle Nathan Sigman, because he's coming on."

Finally, heavyweight Taylor Escamilla won by fall in his first match and by injury default in his second match to earn a spot in the semis. Escamilla will face No. 8 Brandon Hayes of Central Missouri on Saturday. Hayes beat Escamilla 5-4 in a last-second decision at the MIAA Duals on Feb. 13.

"I don't think we could wrestle much better than we did," Denney said. "I think it really started with our young guns. They got us going early."

The top four finishers in each bracket will advance to the NCAA National Championships, set for March 11-12 in Kearney, Neb. With the double-elimination format, each Maverick wrestler just has to avoid losing his next two matches to advance to the national tournament.

The semifinals will begin at 9 a.m. (CT) on Saturday. A live webcast is available for all the matches.
