The reason behind this post is to give you insight about the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) and our NCAA Division II Wrestling program. Please pass along this information to any colleagues, parents, and student-athletes that may be interested.

This is my first season as the Assistant Wrestling Coach at Colorado School of Mines. I am a former Kansas high school wrestler and Kansas Jr. National Team Coach. Josh Hutchens begins his second season as Head Coach, and his sixth overall season with the program. Our wrestling backgrounds are from competing within the Big 12 and Big 10 conferences. I wrestled for the University of Missouri and Coach Hutchens competed for Purdue University. As one of 11 wrestling programs in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado School of Mines provides an excellent opportunity and environment for both the scholar and the athlete.

Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. Degree programs at Mines include Applied Science and Mathematics, Engineering, Geoscience & Resource Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Mines’ has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado and among the highest of any public university in the U.S. Mines’ reputation and high admission standards, as well as its alumni network in industry, government and academic institutions, contribute to a high placement rate.

CSM campus is located in Golden, Colorado approximately 15 miles west of Denver at 5,675 feet elevation. The combination of high elevation and beautiful scenery make it a great location for outdoor training activities throughout the spring, summer, and fall. As for the winter months, we have recently moved into a newly constructed wrestling facility that fits all of our training needs. Wrestling at Colorado School of Mines gives student-athletes the opportunity to achieve a successful career both on and off the mat.

If you have any questions about the college or wrestling program please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your time and support of CSM Wresting.

I might add their placement of graduates into careers after college is very high - one of the best job placement ratios in the country.

It would be great if one of my sons were able to wrestle in Colorado. That would give me more opportunities to visit my favorite state. Being an A.B. product type of guy, I suppose it would be great if one of them wrestled in St. Louis.

I appreciate your comments and would like to thank you all for supporting CSM Wrestling. I can’t say enough how great of an opportunity it is for student-athletes to obtain an amazing job after their college experience at CSM. I look forward to coaching more Kansas wrestlers in the near future. I also wanted to add that I plan on attending the Kansas High School State Wrestling Tournaments this year. Please send me an email if you have a prospective student-athlete interested in our wrestling program and submit an online wrestling questionnaire.

A quick reminder for prospective student-athletes interested in wrestling at Colorado School of Mines...Please submit a free online application to the college ASAP. The admission deadline is soon approaching for the 2012-2013 school year. Also send me an email or fill out our wrestling questionnaire. Best of luck to you in the upcoming months as you prepare for the state tournament.

Kansas High School Juniors-
Please complete our online questionnaire if you are interested in college wrestling and possibly attending Colorado School of Mines. http://www.csmorediggers.com/sports/wrest/WRESTLINGquestionnaire
I am beginning to recruit student-athletes that will graduate high school in 2013. The NLI early singing date for athletic scholarship offers will be November 14-21, 2012. The earlier students apply to CSM, the better your chance of getting accepted into the college. Mines’ reputation and high admission standards, as well as its alumni network in industry, government and academic institutions, contribute to a 90% placement rate for bachelor’s degree students upon graduation. Have a great day and enjoy your summer!
