It's Roller's tourney, and had can run it like he wants, but I'll throw this out there for some kids that might draw one of the top seeds: Since they have put emphasis on the placing at Amarillo "nationals", it has allowed some kids to accumulate brownie points with Roller, at a tourney that is not very tough. Ted Anderson, held the same weekend, but 3 hours closer to us, is just as tough or tougher. I know you can cherry pick a weight or two that might be decent, but I wish Tulsa would go back to seeds based on the legit Big 3, which is Kickoff, Tulsa Nats, and Reno. And actually the Kickoff isn't nearly what it used to be either. Wish Roller would give brownie points for Iowa Folkstyle nationals also. Let's be realistic, if kid from Iowa, who can't afford to go to the kickoff and/or Amarillo, wins or places at Iowa folkstyle nationals, he deserves a seed at Tulsa as much as the kickoff and amarillo placers. Of course depending on waht age he did it at. Did he place or win on the young side of his age group last year, and is back on the old side? Better watch out for him. Or did he do it at the top of 6u, and is about to be introduced to the realities of moving up to 8u. Bottom line is that, like Jack says in his tagline, you have to wrestle the best to be the best, so whether you wrestle the 1 seed first, or in the finals, you still have to beat him. My son started going to Kickoff, TUlsa, and REno, when he was 7, and after missing placing several times by one match, finally got a seed when he was 10. You definitely have to earn brownie points at ROLLER tourneys. Liberty, USJOC, none of those matter to them.
