doug747 15U HWT originally there were 3 listed but one dropped out. They actually combined it with the 15U 200lb group to try and build a bracket with exhibition matches but everyone forfeited because of the 80 to 110lb weight differences. We had to wait till Sat afternoon to wrestle which was asinine as we could have been done Fri night at 9pm. Can't control who goes, we just try to be there for them.
Don't know why there wasn't a bigger turnout for OK HWT's as I was expecting there to be at least 7 in that group. But since this is a 15U group instead of 14U like it is in KS. It is full of HS Fresh/Soph and some 8th graders. Most KS Fresh/Soph are into their 2nd week of practices making them ineligible to participate per KS HS Rules. There were like 3 other tournaments in OK that weekend and they had 15U HWTS, maybe they didn't want the competition??
I thought the numbers were down by at least a quarter, but there was still a lot of out of state representation. Blame the economy I guess or football playoffs?? We wanted to go to Preseason Nationals in IA but nobody signed up for 14U HWT there so we decided not go for a hollow victory. I know there are plenty of HWTS up that way in MI, IA, OH, WI, IL and MO so go figure.
Still trying to decide about Amarillo, we had only one match for placing there last year in 12U so it might be a waste of time and money to go like Preseason Nationals.
