1. Registration has been closed for four days.

2. Weigh ins have been closed for 9 hours.

3. Wrestling starts in three hours but the brackets are not released to the public.

I struggle with such an early entry deadline and the inability to see entrants during the week and no brackets now. It really makes no sense. Trackwrestling is a great tool! You could have had your deadline on Thursday (unless you reached your 1200 wrestler cap) and it wouldn't make any difference. Your brackets should have been released by 10 oclock last night. This tournament has one of the best facilities in the state and I love coming to it but it is still managed like a tournament would have been 15 years ago. In the lobby last night I heard numerous parents complaining about the A & B bracketing as well. I don't have the data but according to one mother her son has won every tournament he has wrestled in but somehow ended up in the B bracket. First of all I have no idea how she knew this (lol) but that complaint has been consistent every year we have attended. I like this tournament and the people are great. It could be improved greatly with a few changes.

Will,
I appreciate the feedback on how to improve our tournament. This is the first year we have used Track Wrestling, and there is no doubt we have some kinks to work out. The reason we did not release participants early is Track did not let us for some reason without releasing complete brackets, we did not want to release brackets without knowing who was in them. As far as A & B brackets go we have combined some brackets. But one of the.biggest issue is we kids kids entered into track wrestling as average or beginner, then the parents would tell us they have never lost a match this year. I wish we knew all 1000 kids so we knew How to bracket them, but we do not. If anyone has suggestions on how to make our tournament better please PM me, we will take it into consideration, as we are continuously striving to make this tournament one of the best in the state.

I would like to see brackets put up sooner. But I do have to say that was one heck of a good tournament.Food was good, refs were great as far as the mats the kids that wrestled for me were on. Even when a coach asked the ref a ? he did not know the rule to, he asked for help. He did not act as if he was above the coach.
The food in the coaches room was the best I have had in a long time. The ladies were very nice.[Almost as if they liked to be there] :} Was just a ton of food.Every thing I ate was very good.
Every Hays club member I talked with pointed me to where I needed to go or where to get it.
The little lady that sang the national anthem could not have been topped.

Good job to all Hays club and see you next year!!

The Hays Wrestling Club would like to say thank you to everyone who attended the Western Kansas Classic this last weekend. We had right at 1000 entries, and for the most part everything ran well. We had a few glitches with our first time using track wrestling, but no real delays thank goodness. We are going to look at making a few changes with different areas of our tournament, such as addressing the way wrestlers pick up awards at the end. This did get somewhat congested, next year we will try to make this better for everyone. Once again a big thank you to all the wrestlers, families, coaches, and volunteers who attended and assisted with making this tournament a success. We hope to see all of you back next year.

Good Luck to all with the upcoming qualifying tournaments.
