Based on the rankings that came out 2/6/2018, lets get all the ranked wrestlers that are seniors listed in their respective weights and classifications and start marking off those that have signed with a college (or military) and see what we have to work with. How about we try to get 100% of ranked seniors accounted for following 2018 (whether it be work, college athletics, or military).
Let's get this rolling. 100%...then above and beyond for all the non ranked seniors!
Challenge accepted by anyone? If someone can list all the ranked seniors that would be awesome.

We all need to help place these kids. Also as we go through qualifiers, lets identify those that may want to move on. We can find homes for all levels. Redshirting is an option and for some you may start anyway based on your classroom abilities and lack of those for others.

There are other young men and women that are considered "sleepers" who may have started later, injured, finally starting to take grades more seriously - with untapped potential who are just as passionate about the sport. I have had guys who just missed placing at state - who end up being excellent youth/HS assistant coaches - there are tons of those. State Championships are good to get some looks by the college coaches - but once they hit the practice college room they generally get a different reception by some of the seasoned teammates and coaches. There is a new level of proof required and more responsibility - not less.

Possible example below: although accomplished as well - but injury sidelined this year - he sounds like an outstanding young man!
"Congratulations to Maize South Senior Jayson West on a great career! Jayson finished with a record of 131-26. Jayson is a two-time state placer and won the State Championship (our school’s first) last year. Unfortunately, Jayson has a few breaks and a torn ligament in his elbow and will not be able to finish the way he wanted. Toughness was always his MO and he was a warrior until the end, finishing his last match with one arm.
It’s been a great privilege and honor to coach Jayson the last four years. He was a class act on and off the mat and leaves a great legacy to the young guys on the team." _________________________ Matt Kerr Maize South High School @mshswrestling Wrestling Coach

There is a new level of proof required and more responsibility - not less. I never qualified and was involved with 2 NCAA DII Wrestling Championship teams. It was awesome. Sometimes a lot of the better wrestlers flake out and don't find the success they did at high school level, because they don't have the drive as much in my opinion. The guys that finish 2nd sometimes are more desirable than champs.

signing a letter of intent, committment - all have a little different meaning - along with being accepted by admissions and actually enrolling in the school as a full time student -

Bump. I know signing day has come and gone and people are getting guys signed. Also if anybody placed that isn't on this list or any senior that didn't qualify wants to be recruited, coaches help us out and get their name on here so they can move on!

Glad to see Rocky reach out. Coaches, find out if your wrestlers that were seniors want to move on or not (doesn't matter if they made it to state or even placed), teams need bodies and those guys that love the sport keep rooms full!

But also, if you are a wrestler that wants to move on, know that not everyone gets a scholarship (or deserves one). I didn't have one for wrestling, but my first 2 years were paid by performing arts scholarship. This is why it is important to try many things in high school activity and sport wise.
