The Southern Plains regional committee voted to return the regional tournament to Dodge City for the next three years.

Prior to 2007 there were two regional tournaments - the Kids/Cadet Championships and a Junior Championship tournament. In 2006 our region became the first in the nation to combine these two events into one large extravaganza. Along with that decision, the region decided to change from a 2-year rotation to a 3-year contract, allowing all states in the region to bid to host this new combined event. Since 2007, every combined regional tournament has been held in Kansas.

The tournament schedule is going to change following the new 3-year commitment. The regional committee voted to return to a rotation, but on a 3-year basis. Therefore, after the next three years this tournament will move to another state. If you want to take advantage of this great opportunity to compete against the best in our region (and among the best in the nation) you'll have three more years to do this in our home state.

There were some good competing bids put up this year from Oklahoma City and Denver. Thanks to those state representatives that supported Dodge City!
