I saw this dual and this was probably one of the most one sided officiated duals that I've ever seen in my life....

There are two matches that stood out. First is the Deeds vs. Loyd match. It took Deeds more than a reasonable amount of time to get back to the middle of the mat every time these two great wrestlers went out of bounds. I know Deeds was sick with mono the first part of the season, but that's no excuse. Loyd should have been awarded AT LEAST one stalling point. This would have meant that the match never went to overtime and Loyd wins giving STF three more team points.

The second match was the Bedore vs. Walz match (even though it didn't last long). This match had one of the most blatent and violent ILLEGAL slams that I've ever seen! Bedore, probably 6'4" picked Walz up, even with his face, and slammed him to his back. I thought that there was a rule that states that a wrestler must return his opponent SAFELY to the mat. Walz had a concussion and I have lost all respect for Jordan Bedore, as well as the referee. I know he's a great athlete and it was senior parent night, but there was no excuse whatsoever for that. I've seen some violent slams before, but this was by far the most ILLEGAL slam I've ever seen! This would have given STF six more team points making the final score:
St. Francis 39 Goodland 24

Stop whining. Whatever happened happened, so what SHOULD have been the final score is the final score.

I agree Mark.

#1-was it really illegal? As long as one of Jordan's supporting points was on the mat before Walz hit, it's fine.

#2-Good sportsmanship!! Grow up.

If you can't take a "slam" you're in the wrong sport. Ever see Jordan wrestle Freestyle/Greco? Those are f-ing slams.

B. Real--While I agree with your entire post, your interpretation of this rule is somewhat inaccurate. The KSHAA wrestling rulebook states that it is the offensive wrestler's responsibility to safely return the defensive wrestler to the mat, supporting points or not.

JB--Stop being a weiner.

jb83, we all get cases of the shoulda woulda couldas, but if your team didn't dominate enough to keep the referee out of deciding the dual then they are to blame(meaning your team)...you need to dominate at all costs, that way if the referee blows a call it doesn't affect the outcome. Maybe if other weights stepped up? As for the concussion, that's not cool at all, but you can semi protect yourself too. (I've been slammed and landed on my neck) it's about fear vs. non fear...maybe if the kid with the concussions wouldn't have been so scared of Bedore, he would have been focused a bit more.

Whiing about the referees are not going to change the outcome. Obviously you don't understand the rules very well. Perhaps you should try becoming a ref before you complain about one.

Nigel, I've seen you officiate, and I wouldn't comment on anyone's lack of rules knowledge if I were you.

JB you are right about those 2 matches. Loyd and Deeds was a realy good one. But SF lost other close matches, and got pinned when they shouldn't have.

Did you ever hear Deeds or anyone from Goodland get on here and complain about the match between the two at Hays. I don't think so. That matches outcome was determined by the official. In double overtime the top guy is supposed to ride the bottom out, but that ref called stalemate two seconds after Deeds put both legs in and started a powerhalf. I didn't see you on here whining about the ref that night did I? But you are correct in one aspect about the ref, he did miss some things. Back exposure points should have been awarded at the end of the double ot. As for Jordan Bedore, big boys make big noises! And lifting his opponent up to his face and then blatantly slamming in to the mat is wrong also. I consider Coach Gable one of the best coaches in the state and you didn't see him question the ref on this so clled slam. As for you losing all of your respect for Jordan, so be it. I'm saying that if you knew him you wouldn't be saying these things. Did you see how this young man interacts with all of the young kids in attendance. Maybe your respect is not important to him.

I didn't see either match as jb83 saw them. So i guess there could be different views on each match. But for you to say that it was blatant is wrong. The move was not even illegal as you called it. If the other wrestler received a concussion, then i hope he recovers soon. I wish St. Francis good luck at regionals and state.

I'm going to have to go with Rhino on this one. If Coach Gable didn't question the call (I wasn't there so I can't verify this, but do know he has been in the sport for quite some time), then it probably wasn't, a so-called "most blatant and illegal slam" like you seen it. Maybe you haven't seen to many wrestlers bring opponents back to the mat rough if it was the "worst illegal slam you've ever seen"........?

Dingbat I know the rules plenty well, you on the other hand don't have the guts to put your real name on the forum much less come up and say something to me at the tournament, but I really wish you would cause I haven't got to throw anyone out all year. Don't critisize me about rules, I've been in wrestling for 14 years now im plenty familar with them. Dingbats what we like to call and "internet mouth jockey" always quick to say something cause they know noone knows who they are.

Ooo I friend of mine who is also a referee said this once and I thought it was funny he said...

"if you have to get on the refs about every little penalty just so your kid can win then you are dumb"

I laughed so hard when I heard this, cause there is a lot of truth to it.

I have watched Nigel ref at a couple of kid's tournaments and can't say that I have seen him make any bad calls. Also from your vantage point along the side of the mat or in the stands, you can probably see the match from a more wider spectrum. Where as when you ref you are right on top of the wrestlers anywhere from 2 foot to 6 foot away. It's easier to call the match from the stands then right up on the kids. I think that is something you are forgeting. And I know most coaches know this as well!

Actually, as a former coach and referee, I think it is easier to ref the match when you are up close and personal.

I didn't see the match, but everyone has seen a match or two lopsided as far as the referee goes. If you loose by a point or two then it was to close anyway. Take the ref out of the equation and toughen up. Also I might add some ref's are that bad not cheaters and I can live with that. HOWEVER I ALSO BELEIVE SOME WRESTLER'S RECORDS ARE PROTECTED BY THE POLITICAL REFS. WOULD ANYONE KNOW ANYONE LIKE THAT?
