The safest and best prediction would be Tyler Baker from Hoxie!

not so fast! Loyd From St. Francis has beaten both Younkin and Baker in the past....i think Loyd will prevail

I think Oakley’s new assistant coach (and former Hoxie High School great) Pete Koster has crossed over to the dark side and is sharing top secret, proprietary information with the enemy! Just kidding, Pete. I wish you nothing but success at Oakley.

Seriously though, this is a match-up between two talented defending state champions and it has the makings for a competitive rivalry all season long.

They should meet again on Thursday in the Hoxie vs. Oakley dual and could meet again in the Colby Invitational dual tournament this weekend too. Plus Weatherbee is slated to be at Colby too and Hoxie and TMP wrestle at 2:00 on Friday afternoon.

Throw in a Loyd and Deeds (albeit in 4A) and 125 is pretty stacked out west this year.

Dear Mr. Brown:

If Hoxie has any other available assistant coaches please let me know? In the event that fails, kindly let me know where I may obtain some of the bottled water these young men are drinking?

Lastly, it is very difficult to obtain wrestling results STATE wide, but particularly difficult in NW Kansas. Hays wants a subscription to access their web page!! Do you have any suggestions where one may go to obtain these results?

3-2-1-A Rankings (Pre-Season)
1. - Tyler Baker – Hoxie - Sophomore
2003 Returning State Champion 119 lbs.
2. - Tait Weatherbee – Thomas More Prep - Sophomore
2003 2nd Place Medalist 119 lbs.
3. - Dylan Loyd – St. Francis - Sophomore
2003 2nd Place Medalist 112 lbs.
4. - Matt Warta – Ellsworth - Senior
2003 4th Place Medalist 112 lbs.
2002 State Champion 103.lbs.

Levi Younkin – Oakley -
2003 Returning State Champion 112 lbs.

I could not locate any Pre-season ranking information on Levi Younkin??

This bracket may well be decided by the wrestler who can remain injury free!

So subscribe. I do. It is not very costly. If you really want results, try the salina paper too.

They should move Oakley back into the Hosington regionals. This would even out the talent at 125 and make an interesting state tournament, that is if this weight stays the same and noone moves up or down a weight class.

Too early to pick the state champ, but I like Younkin over Baker........in Feb. I am sure they will meet a few other times and probably split wins during the year.

I don't know where you got the idea, Oakley is at the Norton regional. That is not what the KSHSAA web shows.

They forgot to add Deerfield into the Regionals, and they picked the Hosington one to put them in, witch then knocked a team out to another regionals witch is Norton's and Oakley was picked to be moved
