I would like to get a HWT camp started up for upper weight kids-high school to make them better on technique. Take like the top 3 or 4 heaviest weights for each age group and have it open to them. Thoughts?

Swayz, since Jarrett has joined the ranks of the fat boys, he would be interested, maybe he could talk our 275 into it too. What are you thinking? BTW....last year they were sitting on the sidelines, laid back and I said, "Well, I guess you are one of the fat boys now!" and they replied, "We prefer to be called, BIG MEN!"
Have a Great Day and let us know your plans.

Actually martialartswrestler, Swayz could plan now and have something in the fall. There was always fall camps that you could got to for a day or two that were good to get you ready for winter. After the camp you could give the kids there a survey and ask what they would like or what would help the camp improve. You only learn by doing.

It don't take long to bring someone to Kansas to run a big boys camp. You can just do like what Akin does by having like a $15 camp that is a few hours long on a night or something and bring in some guys. I have several guys in mind that would be willing to help already and just have to get details worked out as to dates and times people would love to do something.

Swayz, I also think that if we started now we might be able to get something together but it has to be before the start of the high school practice season and obviously like a Friday night, Saturday, possibly Sunday thing. Could get several people in on it if we know soon enough to do it. I say let's make plans for the big young men.

There are several guys I have in mind to get from both in the state and surrounding areas, keep in mind these are just ideas of some people I want to get in:

Andrew Ubben - DII Runner up in 2004

Josh Leadinfox- DII All American UCO 2005

Mo Lawal -RPW National Champ Oklahoma Slam 184

Daniel Cormier - RPW National Champ Oklahoma Slam 211

Tony Lewis - UNO backup heavyweight (ulysses)

Les Sigman - UNO starter 3X DII Champ

Plamen Paskalev - CMSU All American 197

Jake Hager- OU Hwt.

Justin Dyer - OU 184lb

Like I said these are all just ideas of some names I'm throwing out. I might be able to get some other bigger names like Mocco, but would really have to pull some strings and connections.

I think we should also get Daniel Cormier to teach the finer points of butt slapping.

Hmm.. I'm kinda mad that I don't wrestle heavyweight.. cause this camp soudns really good. Only college wrestler that I've been around is Adam Keiswetter. But then again, I'm happy I'm my size cause it, no offense to you "big men" , requires me to be alot quicker, since it's been know that the lighter you are in wrestling you just may be quicker, and plus The heaviest person I've wrestled is a 215 lbs. on my team.. and he just squished me... I prefer to stick with guys around my weight class even though I did frequently wrestle some of the 171 lbs. guys on the team. But Swayz, Would it be possible for me to come if I bring someone with me? I mean they and I could practice and every thing , but we would wrestle each other and not the heavyweights.

Scotty,

We will not discriminate based on gender, weight or anything else. So even if you are a skinny girl we won't hold it against you the more the merrier. It will just be more geared to heavier weights since most camps show moves that aren't always suitable or easy for big men, we would try to show some other things to make simple things for you like a takedown easier with some tweaks.

Just thought we could get Scott Coleman from Iowa State (manhattan alumn).

This just in I got a verbal commitment from a Nationally known upper weight star on the freestyle scene. He said he's willing to do it just needs to know what dates would be best for everyone. It will probably have to be late July -early August is what I'm thinking, but I'm willing to work with his schedule. If I get commitments from big named guys I want more than 5 or 6 kids showing up!

Swayz--remember the last two weeks of July are Fargo camp and tourney. And in August, you will have to get right on it because a lot of BIG MEN, also play football and football 2 A DAYS start for us on 8/15/05. Good Luck. I know I can get a place here in Wichita, so let me know if I can help and I will ask Jarrett, what other big men from Wichita, might be interested. Of course, you could stay at our house and we might even feed you.

You all feed me and you may be broke! I'm tipping 280ish now...got some hypothyroid action going on as post radiation/chemo deal!

Anyway I'll let the cat out of the bag on the commited wrestler:

2x DII National Finalist, 1x DI All American and a Real Prow Wrestling National Champion...the one and only PIC man himself from the Oklahoma Slam via way of Plano, Tx and now residing in Colorado: Muhammed (MO) Lawal!

I plan on the centralized camp, looking for Salina as the best place to have it with two major highways running through it. I will try to get that down and see how many people will show up...if all else fails I think if it's scheduled when nothing else is going on we could bring in tons of talent from across the state.
