I know this weight class got some discussion in the last forum (which I like better) I was just looking for what everyone has as a current record. My guess is at state it will be a matter of who wrestles those two days will be the people that place there is no clear cut as far as it goes right now in my head.

I think your right. There are several good 3-2-1A 189 pounders but no clear cut favorite. I've watched several solid wrestlers and believe Minneapolis has a kid that looks tough. I may be wrong but I think he can beat the wrestlers from Royal Valley and Russell.

I don't really think records much matter since they do not wrestle the same people. No where close. I don't think the kid from Minneapolis is one of the top kids. Yes, I know he won one impressive match. I think he will [place but is not a title comtender. I have seen the kids from both the east and west and I think the kids from the east are mostly better from 189 up.

I just saw where Swihart was beaten by the Goodland kid. Tompkins)Swihart was unbeaten the last I knew. From what I saw of Tompkins he wouldn't beat any of the top 4 in the east regional. I know Basehor could have been an off day for Tompkins that is why they wrestle the state tourney.

He will have to wrestle his great to make the final six. He wrestles off and on and if its one of his off days he will be in trouble the way it sounds.

What I find interesting is that alot of you seem to thing the east is the only one with solid wrestlers in 189.The West is just as tough...take for instance the comment that Swhiart got beat by Thompkins from Goodland, the week before he pinned Thompkins in the third period at Hays. You also commented the loss by Dinkel 5 to 1 to Swhiart at Hays...that was actually alot closer match than the score shows...all of Swhiart's points came in the last 50 seconds, until then it was a 1 to 0 match. My point I guess is that we in western kansas have several really good kids in 189 that challenge each other every time they take the mat and you cannot leave any of them out on any given day.I could list you several kids that could be there in the end,so for the east to think they are the only ones with solid 189's I think you better think again,I think this is one weight where there is no clear favorite and could up for graps by a number of wrestlers.I think the west will compete well with the east and it should make for some great matches.I watches the Hays tournament and saw some great wrestling and alot of kids were central and western kansas, they will compete with the east in all weights.
