I was reading in the newspaper this morning. Results showed that he lost to Maple from Heights 15-0 and the Junction 112 pounder by fall in back to back duals.

Joey is a very tough wrestler and I could not see this as being correct. Can somebody confirm the result or render it a mistake? Is he injured or is their another 112 pounder named Stephens from Derby? Could the name be wrong in the paper. Let me know.

This is Coach Church by the way. I am under my fathers name since could not remember my log on information!

Well let’s just say Joey did something I’ve heard of wrestlers doing, but I’ve never seen it before. He was winning his match big, had the kid in a cradle and wasn’t watching his own back. He pinned himself with the other kid’s arms and legs flailing in the air.
After that, he just really wasn’t in it the next match. Was kind of a weird day in Emporia.

I find it strange you would notice that about Joey, but didn't notice Altman was heeled and back in the line up. He brings his leadership back to the team heading in to a big tournament weekend. Welcome back Donny, you looked very sharp.

Well, I knew Altman would be back in the line-up eventually and I did notice it in the paper. Im not too worried about Altman as I dont have a contending 119 pounder. I do however have a contending 112 pounder.

It was shocking to me to see Joey lose twice in that fashion. 15-0 and pinned seemed unlike him but boxscores to do show him winning and then pinning himself.

Joey is a great competitor and I have no doubt he will be back in peak form over the last 5 weeks of season.

Hey, no problem. I think the season gets long and the wrestlers have to step back and get refocused. I noticed at the Newton TOC tournament, Joey lost his first match of the day. He was wrestling kind of sloppy, not focused at all, not taking anything away from the other wrestler. The next day, he came out sharp, focused and wrestling hard. He worked his way up the back side for a good finish in the tournament.
I’ve seen other post of really good wrestlers stumbling a few times this year already. I wouldn’t bet against any of them at the end of the year.
