They are both on the same side of the bracket and they will both meet up in the semi finals. That should be a state finals match but it won't happen that way. Good luck to the both of u guys.

I guess we can just consider that matchup an early treat for the fans! I can't wait to see it.

Should KSHSAA Start Seeding the number one seeds from each regional? Have a seeding meeting before state sometime to set the number 1 seeds apart? You would not have to change the pairings... just move the quarters around to put the kids on opposite sides by rule book criteria. If there is no criteria... draw it then or use coaches votes and common sense. its a shame that the above are on the same sides instead of being on Kansas largest wrestling stage!

"To Be the Man, you have to Beat the Man!" - Ric Flair

At State, if you want to be the Champ, you just have to beat everyone else along the way. Seeding people at State would only cause coaches to get into a fistfight. The random pairing system works just fine at State. You toe the line and beat whomever is across from you, 1 match at a time, and the last one standing is the champ.

Congrats to Ely. Although Nick Shumate is a great champion, Ely rose to the occasion on Friday night and prevailed in what everyone recognized as the championship match.

I am not making any accusations here, because I really didn't look that closely at every bracket, but if I understand correctly, the tournament coordinators select which regionals wrestle which on a weight class by weight class basis. The pairings should be drawn once, and be utilized in every weight class. The only reason I can see for doing it the way it is done now is either to exponentially complicate the whole process needlessly, or for the more sinister motive of manipulating which wrestlers the organizers want to have the easiest time to the finals.
